Not sure Live should be worrying at this point about an OS that isn’t even supported by its own manufacturer?

Live 11 is not supporting Win 7, but people don't have to buy Live 11 if they want to keep Win 7 support which is offered for Live 10 (although how long Live 10 will be supported is of course another thing- does Live 9 get a lot of support now 10 has been around a while?)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I’d have thought anyone still using Win7 eschews the need for official support and it just comes down to whether or not it functions or not.

Are you safe?

Strawman. Im not talking about what Ableton (Live is the product, not the company) should be 'worrying about'. Quite the opposite, in fact, if you'd care to read properly.

Im wanting them to not worry about pre-Win10 users, since the product does actually work, and thus not take specific measures to lock them out via the installer.

That’s not how your post reads at all. If you care to look at some of the other posts after yours you will see that your comment was interpreted the same way as I did.

Also, I’m fully aware of who makes the product Mr Pedantic

If you read 'Im getting a bit worried I get artificially locked out of using the final release version when the Beta works' as 'Ableton should worry about supporting Win7' then that's entirely your comprehension failure.

agreed. which is why I hope they're not going to lock down the installer.

Lol, ok.

Again, please see the comments after yours which clearly indicate that it was taken the same way
I’ll leave it there

The beta is working fine in Win 8.1, so hopefully they wont lock out pre - win10 users. I cant see any benefit to them doing that as they've been clear that only 10 is actually guarantied support.

And yet the Beta does run on Win7, unsupported. So locking out Win7 users via the installer wouldn't be 'not supporting' it would be 'deliberately restricting use of'
, but people don't have to buy Live 11 if they want to keep Win 7 support which is offered for Live 10
And since the Beta works, then they could probably alternately buy Live11 and use it fine, unless Ableton lock them out via the installer.

Don't see why people would not upgrade to W10. Other than having an old cluttered lap, just like me. W7, 9 years without defrag, still running strong.

Indeed.

I have not read, heard or seen anything from Ableton that indicates they are going to 'lock out' non windows 10 users, what makes you think Ableton would do? Is anyone locking out non-Windows 10 operating systems (I have never heard of this before)

Well, in my case, because it would lose me the use of most of the hardware devices that make up the core of my studio setup, including audio and MIDI interfaces and controllers without Win10 drivers that would cost at least £1500 to replace, assuming I could do so without having to also replace the computer (not an assumption that has much merit IMO.)

Well, they list the following under 'Requirements' for Live11.
Windows 10 (Build 1909 and later)

And the word 'requirement' doesnt ever mean 'not required.' Synonym for compulsory, needed, essential, mandatory etc. Notice it actually specifies the November 2019 build version too, so anything more than about 14 months old is also out.

And Avid did this exact thing.
