I am reviving this thread to propose another option: Due to a lack of oscilloscope plug-ins that would do what I wanted them to do I recently released Wave Observer. There are many unreleased features still in the pipeline, but it already does stabilization of waveforms (automatically, without any tuning or such). You can also freeze and scroll back. Hope you like it, the current version is free.
This is a cool one :tu:

I hope this doesn't come across wrong :-) but has anybody found one that acts like an actual oscilloscope?

Trigger level, Normal trigger mode, Horizontal position (allows you to see before the trigger event), trigger Holdoff; the closest thing I've found is J-Scope from Jon Grove. But even with it, in order to view a note's attack, you have to use Trigger delay together with Oneshot mode (a regular function on most hardware scopes) and repeatedly reset it (because it automatically enables 'Freeze' mode) to get repeated sweeps. I've tried practically every VST mentioned in this thread.

Did you try VPS Scope?

I watched the video. They show no trigger controls that I can see, just a scrolling waveform, which only makes it hard to see the notes' actual waveform. Some oscilloscopes will resort to a scrolling display when the timebase is set very low, like in seconds/division; otherwise, the sweeps starts on the left, or wherever the trigger event is positioned.

Thanks for the suggestion though. :tu:

It has a pitch control, so, you can set the pitch of the note you are playing.

Psyscope gets my vote. occularScope by Bom Shanka Machines is also decent and free* and cross-platform, unlike Psyscope.

The only con is lack of manual latency compensation, to get around Live's poopoo PDC, but the dev is working on M1 updates and will likely include this feature as part of the rollout!

I did. No trigger controls. Seems to want to scroll no matter what you do. Impossible to freeze the attack of a note as you can do with an oscilloscope.

Thanks.

So I really wanted to answer this question and made a database of everything noteworthy I could find and put it all in one spot: https://www.composinggloves.com/ossiloscope-comparrison (https://www.composinggloves.com/ossiloscope-comparrison)

Personally, I found signalizer at the top of my list.

Great tutorial video from the dev here
this one is simplistic and works great! Now on version 0.3.2!
