to be fair, i need to, uh... monitor my own behavior here sometimes; i can get like that, too. anyway, a kvr thread that stays on-topic is like a... i can't think of anything it's like, except a kvr thread...rezoneight wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:50 pmC'mon you know why. This guy thinks he's always right and can't stand to think he might be wrong about something. We've got the big three of this right here in the thread. AnX takes it up a notch by stalking and bullying certain people here. It feels like USENET in the 90s/early 2000s. Why else would someone spend so much effort to discuss something they're not even using nor understand? If you're not compensating then you're just a f00king troll which is even worse. At any rate I tossed the three of em on ignore. Cleaned things up nicely.fisherKing wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:22 pm if it's not important, or relevant to you, why discuss it? if a plugin had an issue on windows, why would i, a macuser, point out that a fix is not necessary?
again, i don't get your point, at all. but you're entitled to rant just as much as the next person (that could be me)![]()
DUNE 3 is now available!!

it would be a crime to hurt Richard by getting his thread deleted because of vendettas...if it aint about dune, dont say it..if you dont like someone this or other product threads like this are about the product...even if you think you are in the right when you derail the thread with your opinions you are really attacking the dev...knock it off...if your post gets deleted after this dont send me a pm, dont start a thread or post about it...just deal with it.
Apologies Richard for the temp lock

dune 3 is one of my top 5 synth plugins (i own a lot, and have, at one time or another, owned many). it has a rich sound, it's versatile, colorful. 'colorful' is a good word for this synth.
haven't really explored the new options yet (soon, though), but glad to see the plugin get updates, and new features. have been with dune since dune1...

What's a good way to use the .WAV sample import in DUNE 3.4 ?
What kind of sounds to import ? can you play the .wav form across the keys or it's just a one-shot sample play ? ...? any tips on using .wav in DUNE 3 . Maybe videos ? ..etc.

So I programmed a lot of sounds for the movies Wonder Woman 1984, Top Gun Maverick, James Bond and Dune 2020.
Amongst other things we used Dune 3 and The Legend in each of these films. D3 sounds fantastic and that's all that matters. There are many ways to create great sounds. And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if the skin is green or red. The quality is crucial. In the meantime, I think I've programmed over 3000 sounds with Dune 2&3 since 2013 and keep finding new ideas. Cheers, Richard and Marcin! Great work

Interesting, so Z2 is no longer Hans's only soft synth weapon.INIT_KS wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 8:29 pm So I programmed a lot of sounds for the movies Wonder Woman 1984, Top Gun Maverick, James Bond and Dune 2020.

I really like the sound, but preset browsing seems to be very difficult (I'm using the demo). Does the full version offer better ways for preset browsing? Especially since the full version comes with more presets then demo + there are many commercial preset packs to get: can you tag them or favorite them in the full version?

Dune 3 is said to be compatible with NKS (Native Control Standard), but I didn't try it that way yet.I really like the sound, but preset browsing seems to be very difficult (I'm using the demo). you can load everything from vocals, strings, drums, foley, etc. all samples are played as a one-shot, endless looped wav file too

But, it shouldn't be really. Having a "multi layer, megasynth" equipped with only two ADSR envelopes is like having a Bentley with a 1.2L engine.BONES wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:44 amBecause most of us can see the need for a proper preset browser, your request is a little less obvious ....Ghost Dog wrote: Mon Feb 01, 2021 8:15 amHow exactly is my request for adding more ADSR envelopes any different than the usual request for a new (proper) preset browser (made by others and, IIRC, you as well) - in terms of relevance?
See, this is where it gets blurry for me, when it comes to his idea behind the synth:BONES wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:44 am I've always considered that a strength of Synapse Audio - someone with a clear vision who has the confidence that if he does it properly, it will be good. It's only since he's gone chasing a market that I've lost interest in Synapse's work.
V1: a basic synth with low CPU usage, good sound (achieved via some shortcuts, but good sound nonetheless) and wavetables (no WT editing, but the bilt-in ones are very useful). Ok, we can say that's a clear vision.
V2: an ambitious, versatile, multi-layered synth, aiming for the top 5 group of software synths: although new filters are much better, the core engine is not much cleaner, there are only two ADSR envelopes, there is no preset browser and the mod matrix doesn't facilitate for an especially comfortable workflow. Seeing the clearness of vision here becomes a stretch.
V3: an even more ambitious setup with dual filters and wavetables editing: new filters are even better than the previous ones (the ones in v2 were good, but the new ones are really good) and WT editing is very much useful, but .... the core engine doesn't seem to be improved (don't get me wrong, the synth sounds good, but you can clearly hear, and more importantly - feel, it lags behind the likes of Hive and (more recently) Vital), still only two ADSR envelopes and still no preset browser (but, at least the mod matrix workflow has been improved). Seeing a clear vision here is almost impossible.
It's not a knock on the synth (let alone Richard personally), just some food for thought. I wish him good fortune with sales and other aspects of his business and hope he does well.
Personally, I like other people's perspectives (regardless of whether I agree with them or not), so I guess I'm not that shy when it comes to sharing mine as well.
TLDR: preset browser = convenience, more ADSR envelopes = convenience (I consider it a necessity, and don't find that idea any more or less relevant than yours, but, like you said, my opinion is not shared by the majority).
