The problem I have with the Tweaks pages in the RePros is that I honestly can't see what's in there. It's like those colour puzzles they show you to see if you're colour blind. It's almost impossible to work out what functions are actually there. I hate it.

Why ? Are mouse clicks somehow different in the two plugins ? Don't you move your finger the same way in both ?

BONES already explained it.Teksonik wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:33 pm Why ? Are mouse clicks somehow different in the two plugins ? Don't you move your finger the same way in both ?

So flipping back and forth from the Arp, FX, and Mod pages of Oberhausen is less taxing? I own both and find neither hard to program. If mouse clicks are a "PITA" then I don't know what to tell you.BONES wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:35 amNo, they are way less of a PITA because they appear alongside the main page, rather than instead of it, so there is minimal flipping back and forth.Teksonik wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 12:44 amBut you don't HATE flipping through Arturia's expanded panel or Oberhausen's FX/ARP/MOD tabs ?
But whatever I'm not against a new GUI for OBsession even though it will most likely not satisfy everyone. I've done a lot of patches for OBsession and don't have a problem with the current GUI because I don't find mouse clicks demanding in any plugin. There's no way you'll get all of OBsession's parameters on a single page which won't require mouse clicks.
I'd rather see that development time and energy spent on features of function rather than a feature of convenience for people who are taxed by simple mouse clicks.
But good luck to everyone on their own personal feature requests. We'll see what the future holds.

No he attempted to explain how mouse clicks are different in different plugins.
Like I said I don't have a problem making patches in OBsession but then a simple mouse click is not taxing to me.
Again good luck, I hope you guys get what you want just as I hope everybody gets their own personal requests granted.

Yes, because you can edit your matrix slots AND the synth at the same page in Oberhausen. Then if you need to, you can edit the FX AND the synth on the same page too. In Obsession you can edit the Matrix slots AND the FX but not the synth parameters. Or you can edit the tweaks, and nothing else. And there's 8 pages of those. So from a workflow perspective, it's objectively worse and more clicking. Oberhausen isn't perfect, but it's faster to work with because you can always edit the synth parameters AND another page simultaneously whereas in Obsession, it's more of a one or the other type situation.Teksonik wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 4:11 pm

And ? Again it's a single mouse click to flip pages in OBsession. I have no problem with that so don't see a need for a new GUI since I've done a lot of patches for it without issue.
Due to the individual Voice Adjustment Pages OBsession is a more complex GUI than Oberhausen . There will be mouse clicks. No way around it. You can't make the GUI large enough to avoid them.
But again good luck with your feature request. I fear that no matter what Synapse does with Obsession's GUI it won't please everybody especially if they are going to complain about simple mouse clicks.

The one thing I'd like to see in Obsession is a single graphical view of each parameters voices offsets. So if I want to spread the values of the cutoff for example, I would now have to click each voice and set a different cutoff value. I'd like to see a nice graphical view like Arturia's SEM, where you have a window where you can pick the parameter and spread the offsets of the voices all at once, or maybe a right-click on the parameter and get a pop-up graph of the same thing. Dragging over a graph to alter voice offsets is way faster than having to click every voice and set a different value. I'm nota fan of the latter workflow at all.

there are 30 editable tweak parameters for each of the 8 voice cards, so thats 240 controls...it would be impossible to fit them all on one page and be eligible (at current size/shape anyway)
im not sure how you could show say 8 diff amounts for one control at a single glance/click, ie filter cut off

That's why bx_oberhausen's "TMT" on/off switch is much more cleverer. Of course, Obsession includes something similar but bx_oberhausen just does what's needed without being stupid about it.
I can't say it is something I have had to deal with at any point. It's almost as if they designed it such that the things that are hidden aren't things you are likely to need at the same time.Teksonik wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 4:11 pmSo flipping back and forth from the Arp, FX, and Mod pages of Oberhausen is less taxing?
That's because you equate "better" with more features, whereas I equate "better" with things like improved sound quality, greater ease to use and and better CPU efficiency. If I buy a synth with a particular feature set, it's because that feature set meets my needs. I don't see any point in shoving more and more into it until it feels like every other synth out there.I'd rather see that development time and energy spent on features of function rather than a feature of convenience for people who are taxed by simple mouse clicks.

Hahaha Bones!! Teksonic is not Captain Spock... Bones and not everyone's "seems logical to me" is the same, however Mark also makes valid points as much the same as you have done here so it is what it is.. we are all different and different paths leads to Rome no matter what chariot and combination of horses you use... as for me in South Africa I will use a donkey cart and an Ox wagon but I will get there in the end!!BONES wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 4:06 am That's why bx_oberhausen's "TMT" on/off switch is much more cleverer. Anyway I can absolutely acknowledge that I have no problem programming patches in OBsession. It's perfectly logical when you develop a proper workflow.
I did a few patches for it yesterday and rarely found myself flipping back and forth between the front and back. It's all about having a logical workflow.
Once again I have no problem with OBsession getting a new Gui even though I don't need one as I'll easily learn it too but also again I doubt no matter how a new GUI is done it will appease everyone.
It's the same as the complaints about DUNE 3's workflow. Some complain about it and some.....

I think I've programmed over 3000 sounds with Dune 2&3 since 2013 and keep finding new ideas

Not a professinal keyboard player but why was PolyAT more of a thing in the 80s/90s and not now? Now its only ChannelAT, and many keyboards doesnt even support that. Very strangezerocrossing wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:22 am I really wish Synapse would recognize polyphonic aftertouch.

I am sure this is not the *only* reason, but I suspect cost had a lot to do with it.
Back then keyboards costed $2,000 and up as standard costing.

You are not alone. If I could I would always program the thing on the tweaks page because is like the main one with extra functionality, but searching low contrast knobs and reading small low contrast text gets tiring really fast.BONES wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:08 am The problem I have with the Tweaks pages in the RePros is that I honestly can't see what's in there. I have a hunch that this was Sasha's idea, as done on his early digitalfishpones plugins.
