Thanks for that kind comment. I recommend Dexed to anyone who has not tried it yet. It is a great tool to achieve superb sounds.Martkorg wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 11:13 pmExcellent, wouldn't have guessed that was Dexed .L-EctroBit wrote: Mon Feb 01, 2021 6:46 am My entry this month: "DexoLectro". Oh, I didn't want to put the fun out of the game for any one. Sorry if I came across that way. I was just wondering how the synth MyLoFy used can be called an emulation when it sounds that different.Eauson wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 11:09 pmIt’s all about fun isn’t it, & we shouldn’t penalise people because they don’t have HW.RuediRena wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 10:59 pm I had some fun, true, but the track is likely to end way at the bottom of the list to be honest. If I compare let's say Dexed with a DX7 there seems to be much less of a difference.
Have a nice and healthy day y'all.

I played with this synthesizer, it sounds the same as the original. I think all the differences lie in the sound design (effects).RuediRena wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 6:54 amOh, I didn't want to put the fun out of the game for any one. Sorry if I came across that way. In turn, having only an electric organ and realizing that I could get a lot of incredible sounds using the allowed effects, I deliberately left all the sounds almost untouched - this is how I understand my personal contribution to the hardware category, even if it does not lead to victory)
I'm glad that your tracks with hard vs soft VL-1 are different, this is the amazing variety of OSC tracks that we all love it for! You can fill up the hardware synths with VST effects, but you went a more original and noble way in the spirit of OSC, so five from me just for this, because I will look at such things during the vote.
Yes, we can't blame those who don't have hard synth, but we must not forget that those who went with hard synth overcame much more difficulties!

Sound design on the original hardware is also a hell of a lot more difficult than on a software emulation of it. If you think e.g. getting nice sounds from dexed etc. is tricky, you should have tried the original DX7! Small LCD window, pressing a number of buttons to get to a parameter, and then change it ... people made a living making cartridges of new sounds for many of the DX range simply because they were a PITA to program and very time consuming. We have all come to live in the nicer world of being able to take a synth (emulation or otherwise) and home in on sounds that we want to use in the context of a track, and then mangle them with clever VST's (some not "legal" in the OSC context though!).
dB (old guy using his old hardware!)
PS I didn't get round to using my Casio DH-100 horn or my Roland CP-40 pitch to midi box.

It's always the same: So many great tracks, sorry for giving anyone less than 4 points
!
But somehow I had to because some tracks are so extraordinarily fantastic...
Cheers, Björn

Voted. Thank you all for filling my last evenings with such great music!
Eauson thank you for your link. Will try to build one before the next hardware OSC
There are also some nice additinal Arduino projects out there for it, too.

I'm about halfway through listening now... I want to give everyone 5s, so many great tracks, but I must be brutal!

I usually feel the same way so I always start with 4 as my max and then I wait and elevate the stuff that is just jaw dropping to 5 after I’ve listened to everything so there’s some kind of differentiation.gorgorgathgorgorgor wrote: Thu Feb 04, 2021 2:53 am I'm about halfway through listening now... I really wish we had a 10 point scale.

Back in the day we had to pick our top five and rank them! I wonder how often you got 52 entrants back then. That would be brutal to have to pick a top 5.

You know, usually when someone uses a FX vst that is not allowed it is due to lack of knowledge about of the rules. Therefore, it is best to comment here in this thread, specifying who has made a mistake in this regard and referring to what rule has been disobeyed.doctorbob wrote: Wed Feb 03, 2021 2:51 pm ...We have all come to live in the nicer world of being able to take a synth (emulation or otherwise) and home in on sounds that we want to use in the context of a track, and then mangle them with clever VST's (some not "legal" in the OSC context though!).
Usually the person makes the necessary correction and thanks whoever has pointed out the failure.
