Fingers crossed for v11.0 to be out today

musicradar did an article on live 11 new features yesterday so I’d guess they wouldn’t have done that unless they had got the nod that the release was imminent

Couple of errors in that article - Live 11 doesn't have 'deeper' MPE support, it didn't have any MPE support before, now it does, and polyphonic aftertouch afaik isn't something that has been 'added to Push 2' as I believe it has had that capability from the start, but Live before 11 filtered it out as it didn't support poly aftertouch at all.

To you people who are testing 11 and have Push 2. You feel that the new version will pave the way for an updated Push 3, or do you not feel an updated hardware is needed?

I had already asked the question here, but I see contradictory informations about this : Is the poly aftertouch update only for Push 2 or Push 1 will have it too? Anyone tried Push1 with the beta?

I've been wondering about this, too. I see two ways Push3 makes sense, both of which are not really that much interesting to me:

1) Turning it into MPE capable controller, which would mean changing the pads into some sort of surface that allows for slides, glides, etc. which in the end would have to look similar to something like Roli keyboards I guess? So how would that work for clip launching? Also for those of us musically impaired, having a pad keyboard constricted to certain scale makes much more sense than doing the same for musical keyboard.

2) Putting a computer inside of it, to make it stand-alone. While the idea is obviously appealing, looking at the CPU "grunt" of MPC or Maschine+ the need to host full Live + (even limited) VSTs would really require some beefy internals, which would drive price way up above competition. Not to mention it would have to be even bigger / bulkier than it is now, whereas I'd much rather prefer a smaller Push.

I never actually used it in any other host than Live so no idea... Musictech says "Once you install Live 11, your Push (1 or 2) receives a firmware update which enables polyphonic aftertouch."

Musicradar, and all the videos that I am able to find only mention Push 2, so I don't really know who to believe.

Ableton only mentions "Push" without further precisions (which is rather a good sign).

I guess if Push 1 does support poly aftertouch, that answers the question, it would be a nonsense not to make it available in Live 11.

If that isn't an error/misunderstanding, then yes.

It works like this: connect a Push 1 or Push 2 to Live 11, and enter the Setup menu on the Push hardware. You’ll find a new parameter called Pressure, which you can switch from ‘Mono’ to ‘Poly.’ (I’ve confirmed this with Ableton.)

Push 1 has always had PolyAT at the hardware level... but it never used it and would need a firmware update to access it. I still have a Push 1 but have not used it in a few years so my info may be out of date.

The upcoming Osmose MPE keyboard has individual keys. You cannot do pitch slides across notes, however each key can be wiggled side to side to bend pitch so you can do per note vibrato and maybe as much as a semitone bend.

Push 3 could do the same for pitch and still be individual pads... then of course there could be the Y axis as well as Pressure. If they did that and made the pads more sensitive and nuanced (higher quality) I would buy it as an MPE midi controller.

Yes, I have one of these on order, the 'familiar' keyboard for me outweighs the ability to slide (on paper). I also have a Hydrasynth and you get the Poly AT and the ribbon which is a surprising useful and expressive tool, they should have put a ribbon on the Osmose, job done!

This would be somewhat similar to how the the Keith McMillan Qunexus works I think? As (primarily) a guitarist I find just rocking my finger backwards and forwards to get vibrato very natural (I find myself doing it on all keyboards even if it has no effect) and AT just isn't the same.
