Makes me contemplate a Faderport + Launchpad combo of some sort. But Push is nice... I'll update here if Bitwig support replies with any workarounds or suggestions.
Support asked me to clarify my OS and machine details, but that's it so far. Meanwhile, I remembered I have a nanoKONTROL2, so I plugged that in, and I get the same behavior. Once Bitwig is out of focus, it is slow to respond to input from the transport buttons, while instruments respond immediately. Weird, since both are MIDI input. Notes vs. CC I guess.

Yes, OS and hardware are always important in such cases.

---------------
I see that the step automation sequencer idea has already been suggested and it's not yet possible with the controller API, but I thought I'd post anyway. There are also some suggestions here to help refine the script.
--------------
Thanks for the comments. Regarding the step sequencing you should write to Bitwig, the more people ask about such things the higher the priority gets.

For your other wishes I feel that there is already a lot of stuff I crammed into this poor little device :-) And there are already maybe too many button combinations. But who knows...
I will write them with a list of things :).

One other question, since we can edit the 'per note' data, does the API give access to the other standard MPE expressions? We can set gain, pan, velocity, but what about timbre, pressure, and release? That would give us some of the functionality requested since we can then map some of these controls to other parameters. I see they are listed in the API documentation.

I'm using a Sensel morph to help design the sounds with MPE, then sequencing them with the FIRE. We would likely need the ALT button since the 4 knobs are already being used for gain, pan, velocity, and length. Obviously not the most ideal setup (holding the note, ALT, and the knob), but the functionality would be worth it IMO. Thanks!

Yes, these parameters are available but as you wrote the button combinations would get a bit too rediculous. That's why I only picked the ones I thought to be most useful.

Good morning sir. The fire is working well now.

Can we get the track selector available on all modes? User 1 and 2 as well?

One thing that would be nice to be able to do is engage a sample on the drum machines key tracking on off. But I think we are out of button press combos. That step is necessary before we can apply pitch changes to individual steps on a drum machine track.

Do we have a way to copy patterns in this thing? I know there is the copy function but Im not sure what it applies to.

Perhaps it could use the USER 1 or USER 2 bank of knobs instead of ALT. I can help test, but understand if it's too complicated. Thanks.

sorry one more question. on the Fire how do I switch between a track instrument like drum machine and the first and second device parameters.. and then back again to the instrument and track selection? isnt it the alt plus selector knob (user 1)? It doesnt seem to work on the drum machine. I would rather have it work on any mode channel, mixer, user 1 and user 2. For the drum machine I propose holding down drum button and turning selector knob to move right and left through the devices on the track.
For instruments holding down the note button and turning the selector knob.

I was wondering too is there way to create a midi clip with the count in record mode in the clip area? I can do it with mouse, but it would be smoother if we could do it on the fire.

finally it appears there is little delay in the mixer mode volume knob when selecting between tracks. I notice it when clicking on a track using the mouse and then turning the knob on the fire.

Yeah, maybe I should change that.

Yes, you can. The word to look for in manual is "duplicate" not "copy". You can activate "duplicate mode" in the Shift mode.

Dear Jürgen,

I've been using 11.5.2 for PUSH 1 since you released it. It's going great. Excellent!

I have a question, well, more of a wish :-)

Would there be a possibility if I activated a clip by pressing it for a long time to highlight it as "activated" in color? E.g. a little lighter.
I use the nice copy function a lot, but then check the monitor to see if the clip is really activated.
Even if I set an accent, I would love it if the pad was highlighted somehow.

Sorry, I know we are pesky pains that are never satisfied ...

Hi!

I love your script for Novation LaunchKey MK3!
I still have some requests:

No 1:
Shift + right track button selects first track on next page (track 9, then track 17 etc.). Shift + left track button selects first track on previous page. Would be nice to be able to quickly switch between track pages.

No 2:
1. Shift + Play to play all tracks from the arranger.
2. Play + pad to play track in arranger.
With these options in place you can play the tune in arranger mode, and then jump to and from clip mode for one or more clips/tracks for improvising with prerecorded clips.

No 3:
Clips with play icon on them are flashing in green, but not the color of the track. It would be nice if it could flash in the clip's color. It would make it easier to find the right clip when you want to stop a clip (i.e. with Stop + pad). This could be a setting if you think not all users would want this.

No 4:
A setting to turn on lights for all buttons that are accessible (Shift, Settings, track buttons, ..., Fixed Chord, Arp, Scale, -, +, and also all the buttons to the right (control buttons)). Then it will be easier to play in the dark.

No 5:
A setting to use the ... button to behave only as cursor buttons (and not open the browser). The browser is very slow when going through my u-He presets compared to going through them directly in the plugin.

With those options added, I think the controller would be perfect! I can't guarantee though that I won't come up with more requests in the future. :-)

Good idea! Just implemented to make it glow to white. Will be in the next update.
In case you are not aware, you can also display the clips in the display of the Push 1, which also shows the selected state. Press Session again when in session mode and select "Clips".

Yeah, maybe I should change that.
Correction: No, that is not possible since in these modes they change devices and parameter/user pages (see manual) and we are just running out of knobs and button combinations.

I think I found a use for pressing down the selector knob when on the drum machine track. How about that engaging or disengaging key tracking for selected parts of the kits? Or perhaps pressing the selector button down could be a set to a user assignment to trigger an effect or modulation. that might be fun. not sure if it can be setup that way though.
