Hi!
Newby ? I have a podxt hooked up to my IMac G5 usb port. Tracktion shows the signal in a new track i created. i can't hear it unless i record it then play it back. I also cannot monitor tracks playing unless i switch to wave in audio. At that point i can no longer see my pod input signal. Can you clue me into what i am doing wrong?

My mistake...
E-to-E provides a kind of MIDI thru to monitor recorded MIDI via VSTis or MIDI OUTs
Sounds like your problem is monitoring. I'm not familiar with PODXT but it may have an option to monitor directly from its audio output (with zero latency to boot - virtually a necessity with guitar playing)
If not then ensure that the track to which you are recording is routed to a suitable audio out device (eg your PODXT audio out)

remember there is also an end-end option for each audio input too.
IE, to hear audio comiong in from an input, there is one that controls whether the input is active when not in record mode, and a second that controls whether audio is output when not in playback mode.
The first is on the settings of the audio in, the second is the one in the main transport section.

thanks for the help but none of this seems to make any difference. I still don't hear the podxt but i can see the meters move and i can record this then hear what i played after switching to built in audio on the setttings page. It is a monitoring issue i think too.
A computer friend is going to come by and help tonight so hopefully...

Some more details... I'm on a G5 iMac, running OS 10.3.5 and Tracktion 1.6.0.1. The Line6 PODxt is a guitar processer, hooked up as a USB device. Line6 provides the USB driver for it. I'm doing all of my monitoring via the built-in speaker in my iMac.
In the Mac's "Sound" system preferences panel, the PODxt shows up (along with Built-in Audio) as a choice for input and output device. I have selected "Built-in Audio" as the output device, and "PODxt" as the input device.
In Tracktion, if I select the "settings" tab and "audio devices", I see the following choices for "Wave device":
Built-in Audio
PODxt
<none>
Regardless of which Wave device I select, I see these input/output devices:
output 1 + 2 (default wave output)
input 1
input 2
When I'm in the edit screen for a song, I see "input 1" and "input 2" as the inputs that I can drag to the track that I want to record on.
To get a record input signal from the PODxt, I've found that I need to set "Wave device" to "PODxt", and then I get a signal on my input meter in Trackion. But I can't hear anything, even though I have end-to-end enabled. Then after recording something from the PODxt, the only way I can hear playback of any tracks is to set "Wave device" to "Built-in Audio".
So how do I set my audio output and input to separate devices in Tracktion? I want to have "Built-in Audio" as my output and "PODxt" as my input device. But I have to select either "Built-in Audio" or "PODxt" in the settings tab, and that changes both the input and output.

Select the track your recording to, make sure that the destination output of the track (in bottom panel) is set to default audio output.
Make sure the default audio output is correct (settings tab).

Try using your podXT as your output device, and plug your speakers into the headphone jack. This is the way I have mine set up and this is the way that was reccomended to me on the Line6 forums.

Your Pod will have a headphone jack. Plug your speakers into this, assuming they're powered speakers.

thanks everyone for your help. It works when i use the audio out going to the podxt. I will play with it to see how well it will work for my needs. i did find more info on the Line6 site.

Here I just figured out how to do this again. Choose direct sound under settings. Primary sound driver will show in blue as default wave output. Now go down to input and disable Primary Sound driver as input and select podxt as input. Now you have podxt usb direct monitoring.
