Eight voices that can be set to do completely independent settings under a single voice controller.

Looks like it doesn't - and it is such a massive waste. There are open source tuning libraries from the surge synth team - how hard can that be to implement?
Control over harmony and pitch is such a basic f**king feature. It is not an academic niche.

Did you watch the G-Force video from today on the unison patch? Try to replicate that on the SEM V.werp wrote: Sat Feb 20, 2021 2:21 amlifted from the arturia sem v descriptionFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Sat Feb 20, 2021 2:15 amEight voices that can be set to do completely independent settings under a single voice controller.

After spending the last hour on my bx_oberhausen, I can't wait for Tuesday to come.

I did watch all of it. I haven’t opened my copy of SEM V for quite a few years. The ‘paperwork’ does mention individual tuning of the voices and multi-timbrality. It also offers extras that the original modules didn’t contain.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Sat Feb 20, 2021 2:42 amDid you watch the G-Force video from today on the unison patch? Time will tell I guess. No doubt youtube will be hosting some comparison videos. Sooner rather than later I expect Mr Evil Twin

It looks like the 8 Voice Programmer in the Arturia is more of an arpeggiator thing? Never used it but it doesn't look much like the GForce implementation.

SEM V takes one SEM module and makes a polysynth module out of it. The OB-E (8-Voice) is 8 individual SEM modules. It would be like running 8 mono instances of SEM one through some kind of polyphonic software to route the voices. Just a different deal, different synth.
I look forward to demoing Tuesday. Should be a nice fun toy to play with.

Maybe I’ll fire the Arturia version up...
Looking at the full 8 voices on one screen might possibly do my head in. My problem with the GeForce version is probably visual information overload...Could explain my current preference for hardware over software.

Is there an introductory price?Shaetano wrote: Fri Feb 19, 2021 8:11 pm No, there’s nothing sus here. Briefcasemanx is wanting to use a perfectly legitimate discount that he’s entitled too. It is wholly separate to the £30 coupon sent to subscribers this week.

Just FYI, the video (and emulation) is about the Oberheim Eight Voice. The OB-8 is a completely different synth.JoeCat wrote: Fri Feb 19, 2021 11:02 pm Yeah I didn't watch the whole video initially, and thought "wow - the OB8 really did sound awesome".
So uh, crap. GAS. And i've been promising myself the Odyssey cause the hardware version's a bit unwieldy, space-wise....

This video shows an iSEM for iPads. SEM V is for real computers...trackbout wrote: Sat Feb 20, 2021 2:56 am It looks like the 8 Voice Programmer in the Arturia is more of an arpeggiator thing? Never used it but it doesn't look much like the GForce implementation.
The Arturia is theoretically limited in that regard, as it can modify only up to 6 parameters of each voice. In the advanced settings is an 8 voice programmer to do that. Practically that is sufficient. In terms of UI I even prefer that, as you can program the variations of all 8 in one place...
I also setup my bx_oberhausen in Bitwig for 8-voice SEM MPE joy. Works like charm, but eats significant CPU (8 instances in an instrument selector...) Lets see how that GForce compares... Will it support MPE...?
