cool 8)
That and "Loving Those Blues Away" from this CD. There are also a number of songs they're doing from other collections.

Ripped From The Headlines
Too Much Time On My Hands
Get Your Rock Off
Not My Jazz
Doctor Doctor
Give It To Me Straight
Still Out Of Sync
It Don't Ring A Bell
Boy's Night Out
Tommy's Lament
Kick In The Head
Time Is Time
Electronica
Hold You Like There's No Tomorrow
Go Away
Let Me Go
Out Like A Light
Revolving Door

Naturally, these 20 songs won't be all on one CD. These will cover a number of releases and will probably take a good 2 to 3 years to do them all.

For whatever reason, the band members love a lot of my stuff, maybe even more so than the band leader.

We're working on a deal where I possibly write songs exclusively for them. In other words, not stuff that I already have but by request. They want me to do country, which isn't really my strong suit, so I've been trying to avoid it.

In spite of all this, I'm a realist about the whole thing. If I make a few hundred dollars a year with these guys I think that would be extremely optimistic. But like I said, I never did this for the money. Just knowing somebody out there likes some of the stuff I do enough to "invest" in it is all I was ever looking for. My dream was to have a record made by an established artist as I am in no way a performer and I know that.

Took 44 years but it's finally going to happen.

That alone is all I need.

The money is just gravy.

i totally get that. :tu:
and let's be honest, after the past year, a little good news would be nice for any one of us :)

and yup, i know the process, yeah they love the songs, but some might not work or sound as good once recorded.
so you end up with a lot of outtakes/rewrites and so on.
used to love it in the studio with some bands, they just played/recorded for 12 hours a day, 5 day booking.
then they would take all the audio home, then a couple months later book another session for more recording mixing, come back with all that cut and sliced to bits, made in to stems, then record live guitar and drums again over that and mix, some awesome creativity in some of the kids we had through.
being in manchester, sadly was a lot of low rent oasis clones and the like

I guess in a way I've been lucky to have been removed from that part of the business. Working by myself, I never had to put up with all that stuff.

What's coming is going to be a whole new experience for me.

5th track from my upcoming CD "Girls II"

Personally, one of my favorite songs of the CD. The story is actually from the movie "All About Eve"

Lyrics:

All About Eve

You fell in love with an aging star
You admired her from afar
But then you wormed your way inside
And nowhere could that star go hide

You told her how you grew up poor
And lost your husband in the war
So she hired you to help her out
But pretty soon she had her doubts

You managed to be her understudy
The waters started getting muddy
You became a star as you knew you would
While you wormed your way you knew you could

But turnabout is fair play
A young fan came your way
She managed to worm her way inside
And nowhere could you go and hide

All about Eve
All about Eve
All about Eve
All about Eve

6th track from my upcoming CD "Girls II"

Lyrics:

Sexy Lexi

So sweet talkin
Chew gum walkin
And I'm gawkin
At sexy Lexi

She's a hottie
Not like Dottie
Even Lottie
My sexy Lexi

Legs so long, arms so strong
Eyes so blue, Lips'll do
Auburn hair, derriere
Drive me wild you crazy child

Oh I love my sexy Lexi
She's a dream come true
I love my sexy Lexi
And I know you would too
Ain't no one can do the things that she can do
Sexy Lexi
Sexy Lexi

She's got style
Drives men wild
Crazy child
My sexy Lexi

Moves so slinky
Acts so kinky
Wrapped around her pinky
My sexy Lexi

Teeth so white, Eyes so bright
Rosy cheeks, teases geeks
Breasts so firm, make me squirm
Drive me wild you crazy child

Oh I love my sexy Lexi
She's a dream come true
I love my sexy Lexi
And I know you would too
Ain't no one can do the things that she can do

7th track from my upcoming CD "Girls II"

Lyrics:

Lonely Loretta

Lonely Loretta
Sits alone all by herself
Lonely Loretta
Cause she's got nobody else

And she cries and cries and cries and cries
Yes she cries and cries and cries and cries
Oh she cries and cries and cries and cries
Lonely Loretta girl

Lonely Loretta
She can't find a man to love
Lonely Loretta
And she prays to God above

Repeat Chorus

Oh Lonely Loretta
She just can't understand
Why in her lifetime
She just can't get a man

Lonely Loretta
She refuses to give up
So she takes out a want ad
For a cat or bird of pup

Lonely Loretta
She now has a pet to love
But the grim reaper took it
And he sent it up above

Repeat Chorus

Lonely Loretta
Lonely Loretta

8th track from my upcoming CD "Girls II"

Probably my favorite

Lyrics:

Oh My Ophelia

I've looked at you from afar
But I never had the nerve
To ask you to your face
So I would always swerve

But now I've finally found the strength
To tell you what's been on my mind

Oh my Ophelia
What a lovely name
Oh my Ophelia
I love to play your game
Oh my Ophelia
If it's all the same
Oh my Ophelia
Won't you be my dame

Now that it's out there in the open
Now that I've bared my soul
I can't go on another day
Without you in my arms to hold

Repeat Chorus

9th track from my upcoming CD "Girls II"

Lyrics:

Zany Zoey

She's as crazy as they come
She'll make your head spin round
She's the loony bird of love
She'll pounce without a sound

If adventure's in your blood
And danger is your dream
Just wait for her to come
Her ways will make you scream

Zany Zoey
Crazy little lady bird
Zany Zoey
Believe all the things you've heard
You'll be in for the time of your life
Just don't plan to make her your wife
Cause she'll stab you through the heart with a surgeon's knife
Zany Zoey

Nuts all around
Squirrels can be found
Hearts on the floor
Living no more

If you want a real good time
She'll give you one for sure
But don't plan to be around
When she comes back for more

Repeat Chorus

10th track from my upcoming CD "Girls II"

Lyrics:

Lacy Macy

Standing in the window
You look so good and fine
I wish I could have you
I wish I could make you mine

You know a guy can dream
Cause in my eye's that gleam

Lacy Macy
You sure look racy
Dressed in your negligee
Lacy Macy
I'll bet your tasty
Why don't you come to my...place to play

I've been watching these nights
While you put on your show
You drive me all crazy
I just had to let you know

I don't know what I'll do
If I cannot have you

Repeat Chorus

Maybe some night you will look my way
And I can feel your lace through my hands that day

11th track from my upcoming CD "Girls II"

Lyrics:

Queen Queenie

Queen Queenie
Queen of the Q's
Queen Queenie
Go and spread the news
There's no one who can touch your shoes
No one else can sing the blues
No one else even has a clue
Like queen Queenie

Queen Queenie
Reigns over all
Queen Queenie
Almost seven feet tall
There's no one else who has your style
You got them beat by a country mile
I love the way you drive me wild
My queen Queenie

If I had one wish
It would be to spend one day
Kissing your golden crown
Send it here my way

Queen Queenie
Ruler du jour
Queen Queenie
Gives me more and more
A life with you would be a dream
You keep the milk I'll take the cream
Wouldn't mind you on my team
My queen Queenie

Thanks Layzer. I'm actually taking a break now doing a Marvel movies binge watch. Probably won't get back to the studio until the middle of March. Definitely need to recharge.

Eve and Ophelia are probably my two favorite songs on the album.

12th and final track from my upcoming CD "Girls II"

Lyrics:

Until Ursala Loves Me

She came into my life
One day dropped from the sky
It was so unsuspecting that I almost died

But just as quick she left
And I just don't know why
And now the only thing I do is sit and cry

How could she abandon
All the love to be
I will now keep waiting
Until Ursala loves me

I had it all planned out
I didn't have to try
But she did not respond and I just wonder why

She left without a word
To find some other guy
So now I sit alone as I get so damn high

Repeat B Section

Instrumental Break

And so it comes to this
There's nothing left to see
But I'll stand my ground
Until love is found
Until Ursala loves me

Below is a response I made to Aaron's most recent music post.
Great stuff as always. Love the synth work on this. Do you remember what synth you used for the arp riff? Mix is perfect. Musically, just the kind of stuff I love.

Okay, I'm gonna ask you to do me a big favor and as a friend, I hope you will honor my request. I'm going to ask you not to review any of my songs.

You're probably wondering why. So I'm going to give it to you straight.

I honestly don't like this whole "You review me, I review you" stuff. I never did. I have a few friends here (you, Bansaw, Vurt, a few others) whose music I always listen to. I don't do it out of any sense of obligation but because I truly enjoy listening to their music. Some of you guys, you included, are damn talented. Bansaw still reminds me of Depeche Mode and sometimes Human League. Vurt has some of the most unusual stuff I've heard. It's not "traditional" music but it is so cool to listen to. Donkey Tugger will always remind me of Pete Townsend. I think he's one of the most talented writers and performers here.

I could go on and on. In fact, my only complaint is that some of you guys maybe post a song a month, if that. The droughts are sometimes almost unbearable. What can I tell you? I love listening to good music and interesting soundscapes.

Why am I telling you this?

Over the last 12 days, I posted the 12 tracks of my CD "Girls II".

I have received ONE comment.

It truly makes me scratch my head. Is my music so damned awful that people really don't want to listen to it? Or is it simply that the people here are too consumed with their own lives and problems?

Whatever the reason, I'm honestly just tired of it. I'm considering just not posting anything here anymore. I kind of don't see the point.

That doesn't mean that I will stop listening to the music posted here. Especially by those who I really look up to and respect as artists. Yeah Vurt, that includes you with all your wackiness. I never know what I'm going to hear when I click on one of your links.

But I'm done playing this "you listen to me, I listen to you" game. Listen to my music because you want to and not because you owe me something. It just doesn't mean anything this way. And hell, feel free to tell me that the song I just posted sucks if that's what you think. I'm a big boy and I can take it. The only reason I've improved over the last year is because I finally listened to people who gave me constructive criticism instead of burying my head in the sand.

Anyway, I've said my peace and I'm done.
So as I said above, I think I'm done posting my music here. Those of you who I respect as musicians, I will continue to listen to whatever you post here because I truly enjoy listening to it.

But it's time to put this thread to rest.

I doubt anybody is going to miss it.

Post

Thats sad. I think you write some song gems. To be honest though, you remind me of a wedding photographer who told me that he had to shoot 50 photos quickly, but knew only 2 would be high quality enough to keep. And with you I can listen to ten songs and for 9 of them I'd think, "meh, okay", but for the 1 song, I'd think, "wow, thats really good."
I think your writing and arrangement is very good, but the production quality is not as high as it could be.
Maybe you could work on a handful of songs and then choose one that really sticks out, and then just work on that one getting it as good as it could possibly be, i.e. release less, but release with higher quality production.
