No Microtuning, not cross platform... what year is it? I've jumped back and forth between windows and mac OS multiple times for music production based on currently available hardware or various peeves/benefits from OS upgrades so I generally won't buy anything that is exclusive to either of them (which is really hard with stuff like five12 numerology as mac only)
This is a release that there has been some level of hype building for a decade. I don't know why they would release it half baked and cock it all up now.

The moment I saw the press release I knew I'd come here to find the entire conversation dominated by the single platform release. Discussions like these, especially on KvR, are often filled with armchair assumptions about even-split or Windows skewed sales potential because the global install base is so large, but for all we know the vast majority of GForce's customer base are on Mac which is why they're releasing this way first. Maybe Hugo Brangwyn, OB-E's lead developer, is mainly a Mac developer and they'd need to contract out for a Windows port. I don't know how that works. Are most companies one-person-all-platform specialists or do they have separate teams/devs to handle the different platforms? I did notice a C++ software developer opening on GForce's website.

ED pretty much confirmed that earlier. Now that the initial shock and disappointment has worn off, I'm sure a PC version will be forthcoming, but it's going to be a long while.

Well, no, that is usually not done at all, you usually work under a framework that supports multiple platforms, or have your own libraries that are covering the platforms. But GForce could learn a thing or two from TAL. Protip: use JUCE.

I don't think that's why they did this, but it might certainly be a possibility that an iOS version could follow. My 10.5 iPad Pro from a few years ago struggles to play a few softsynths in Cubasis, so I wonder if it could even run this if made available on iOS.

Post Mod Edit... From me: Why? I don't curse, or cut people down. I expressed disappointment in no PC version, that is all. How did that get a mod edit?

It's nothing to be too worried about though.
It would be at least a tiny bit problematic if an actual über-synth which trounces everything before only came for one system, but otherwise we are more than covered with absolutely awesome stuff already.
This is actually only my own humble opinion, but yet another more or less straight analog emulation is even more yawn-worthy than yet another EQ. Nice to have if you don't already have something nice, but otherwise not really. Something like an ACE 2 (or Zebra 3) exclusively might have made me raise an eye brow though

For some it is Reaper, for others it is the shittiest looking DAW in the world

Getting back to the instrument itself, I'm definitely interested in trying out the demo because I've grown rather fond of Oberhausen recently. It's been my first experience with an Oberheim style synth and I might be interested in OB-E if they get the workflow right for programming the independent 8-SEM voices. I know analog emulation is getting a little tired, and I want more future thinking instruments, but I'm still impressed by modeling that actually manages to nail that old and imperfect sound of vintage synths of the past.

Geez, I clicked through to the web site, had a look, and filed it under “check it out after work.” I didn’t notice the Mac only release. That’s a bummer. I hope they released it this way to generate some income while they finish the Windows release.
