just what the title says
looking to side chain a audio signal using midi
and also seen in this video
any way to use any melda vst like volume shaper (using midi trigger to perform a volume automation shaper)

MRatio can do this.
1. Put MRatio on a MIDI track by itself
2. Route your audio to MRatio/sidechain
3. Either route your MIDI to MRatio, or just put the MIDI pattern directly on MRatio's MIDI track.
4. In MRatio, find and expand the Utilities section and open up mod1
5. Select the Envelope tab, set mode to MIDI. Leave action on/off to start/stop single
6. In the parameters section, add Global --> Ratio, then click Invert
7. In the ASDR section, zero out everything except Decay (and Decay% if you want non-linear rise in volume)
8. Make sure you've enabled mod1 (click Enable in top right of mod1 pane)
Now, when you play your track, adjust decay time and decay % to taste.

PS.just found a sync button on the ADSR .so it was easy to match up the time and shape

is there a way to do this same thing with look-ahead? using the standard MIDI triggered modulator still takes a few milliseconds to trigger so transients overlap with the ducked signal

I think I figured it out for anyone else looking for MIDI triggered sidechain volume shaping with look-ahead
1.) MUtility inside MXXX,
2.) Envelope Modulator to Utility Volume,
3.) Enable Delay -> click 'Report as latency' -> enter desired look-ahead
