(I just realise, it may depend on the engine... one engine scales the current envelope value with sustain level, so it might not work there like that... gotta experiment with that)

Play it at 120BPM with a higher note. I swear I hear it counting 1...2...3 yet there is no vocal in the wavetable.

On the subject of using Vital to make Text to Speech Wavetables to use in Hive here's a simple example. This time with the sample included.

I'm getting some spikes and (i think) slightly excessive cpu consumption with Hive 2.1 in Ableton Live 11, but Live 11's cpu management and metering has been funky since the beta. Some things seem to get along with it, others don't.

Yeah...sort of... but I think if you said nothing, someone else might perceived something entirely different. For instance, after a minute or so I kind thought the sound that follows the “one two three” sounded like: “Hit it”.I swear I hear it counting 1...2...3 yet there is no vocal in the wavetable.

Thanks, that's actually very useful. It didn't help with this patch though.Urs wrote: Mon Mar 01, 2021 11:02 am If you have a spare envelope, you can set Attack to 0 and modulate Sustain with whatever and use Decay as a variable Slew Limit. This turns the envelope into a Slew Limiter, as long as Gate is On.
I think I found something strange with the Random Hold, or maybe I'm misunderstanding that Random Hold in Hive. It looks like Random Hold drops to zero sometimes, which creates spikes. See attachment.
In bipolar mode the spikes goes up instead (it seems when I just took a fast look).

That usually happens when you play new notes and a different voice "takes over" drawing into the Scope. A lot of glitches reported over the years turned out to be just that.

Ah ok, and this wasn't the cause of the clicks. The issue seems to be related to Flanger only.Urs wrote: Tue Mar 02, 2021 9:31 am That usually happens when you play new notes and a different voice "takes over" drawing into the Scope. I did some further testing and when I chose Gate as Via Source in the ModMatrix slot - and de-select SL (None), it becomes better, but not click-free (more clicks are introduced when choosing Slew which is kind of weird to me), but again only for Flanger mode.

As long as that's a polyphonic presets you're talking about, then that's also to be expected. The FX section is of course monophonic in that there's only one of each, they're not "per voice".
So if, as in your example, several notes compete for settings in the Phaser, then the phaser will often have to switch quickly to different values depending on what each note sends at a given moment (here: for its phase parameter).
That will click, no way around it.
Better modulate such parameters only with monophonic sounds.

Yea, I understand, but it's a monophonic (legato) patch. The unshushable Coktor wrote: Tue Mar 02, 2021 9:20 pm As long as that's a polyphonic presets you're talking about, then that's also to be expected. I found out that the Rate parameter on the Phaser/Flanger does NOT hold it's position even though it's set to 0. The position of the Phaser/Flanger still slightly moves, obviously it's becomes very apparent if you turn up the Feedback. But I noticed that if I set a Constant to -100 on the Phaser/Flanger Depth it actually stops moving the Center!
So... after doing this, it now seems like the clicks are totally gone!
Since I've done so much fiddling around, I'll have to re-check tomorrow with fresh ears.
Thanks for the tips and quick replies, highly appreciated as usual.
