As a former DX7 user, I discovered Dexed some time ago and now use it regularly in my live audio applications. I have installed too the folder "Dexed_cart_1.0" which is fabulous and I congratulate the author for this amazing work!
I now have the following problem: after installing Windows 10 on a new hard disk, I lost the paths to the folders where the presets used in my applications were saved.
I only know their names and I have not found a way to search them among all the syx files in the Dexed cart folder, except by reading each file one by one in the notepad...
Is there any manipulation or program to find presets names in this folder?

There is a windows script SY1Lst.bat to go through sysex and write patch names in a file for Synth1 ,maybe it can be tweaked for Dexed viewtopic.php?f=1&t=421700&start=60

Thank you for your response. I have tried this but unfortunately, if this works fine for Synth1 patches, it does not works for Dexed patches.
Synth1 patch (*.SY1) is containing only 1 preset and the .bat file extract the header /name of the preset.
This is an easy and simple task.
Dexed patch (*.syx) is containing between 1 to 32 presets and preset names are spread over several lines without any specific and identifiable header. This seems to make impossible to extract names by this way - or so I believe.
The only remaining option is to open each .syx file in a notepad and to look for comprehensible names... That means 15761 files to examine!!! I should go faster by creating the sounds I need directly in Dexed

(free) and search for the name inside the cart folder (use subdirs).
It will give a list of which files contain that word.
NOTE: But it looks like I was an A**hole, because you need something like TotalCommander to do stuff like this, read all about it :

Thank you for Notepad++ which allowed me to do a string search in the whole Cartridges folder and find in a few minutes the presets I was looking for.
On the other hand, I had started yesterday to edit on Dexed to get the sounds I wanted, and as a result I found the forgotten joys of editing on DX7. And finally, after comparison with the presets found thanks to Notepad++, I am much more satisfied with the sounds I edited!
I plan to use Dexed much more often in the future to get the specific sounds I need.
Thank you all for the help.
