Sure, but, the question is if they consciously implement features to attract the PT users.
Company A does not want company B's customers.

That's a new form of marketing that might just work.

Reverse psychology :hihi:

Post

I never said that they don't want them. I'm just still wondering what makes you think that the latest update is a sign of longing for those users.

Ok, but, I rather thought in regards of the latest update. I can't see much in there to attract the PT users.
With this update I agree, they seem to be going more after Logic specifically than PT. The Show Page is 100% Presonus going after MainStage. So it not having clip launching etc makes more sense in that context since MainStage is primarily made for keyboardists and live performances with backing tracks.

If you look at Presonus update history they always seem to do an update for the audio guys and then an update for the producing crowd. That has been their MO since at least 2.x. So while this update specifically is not focused on PT, 5.x when it first came out with all the group functions, mixing snapshots, the Listen bus etc was definitely very focused on PT users.

I'm just going through the 5.2 playlist from Presonus on youtube to see what's new, I like the new clip version addition, the midi mute, split and velocity options are nice too, diagnostics tool to report crashes and the options to disable plugins is welcome

Does anybody know if they fixed the midi drag issue with midi files over a certain size opening a new song instead of just going to where you drag in the current song ?

Let me rephrase my question as, obviously, you didn't quite understand it. ;)

Which indicators do you see, regarding this new update, that they are "chasing Pro Tools"?
Ok, "chasing" was the wrong word. Perhaps "attracting" the Pro Tools professionals by going more in that direction. It just seems to me that they are moving more towards that type of DAW.

The emphasis on live performance - score writing - song arranging.

And - they are not trying to attract the FL Studio - Bitwig - Live crowd.
I think they are just adapting to where the market it is. Kinda like what you see with Steven Slate right now vs just catering to rock guys. One major producer who did a interview with Presonus said this “There have been times where I’ve walked into big label studio sessions and people look confused because they’ve never seen Studio One in person!" It's 2021, and that's a problem when a pro producer say's that.

Either or the producers are the one's selling Studio One right now. PT is the standard in pro studios etc. For production in the industry I think FL/Logic/Ableton are still the choice for modern producers/songwriters. Studio One still hasn't cracked that area like that.

I've actually had this happen to me. I walked into producers meetup and had S1 open. They were like "Studio One? What's that?" It was pretty diverse group too, with Ableton (the majority), Logic, Reason and FLStudio users, even Sybelius, and everyone was left scratching their heads when I opened S1. it took me by surprise since I thought everyone knew about S1. Sometimes I forget how niche our community is and S1 users are a niche of a niche. So yeah Presonus has some work to do.

I don't know if it's possible, it should be because I've seen other DAW's do it but how do I bounce/render multiple tracks into one new single sound ? Say I've got 2 synths and a sample which are being used to design a single sound, how do I get them from the 3 separate tracks into one track ? I know I can do it simply by routing all 3 tracks in the mixer into a bus and leave them as 3 tracks but I'd like to print them to 1 track

If I am understanding your request properly (I do this quite often with layered guitar tracks), then try the following:

1. select the multiple clips you are looking to bounce to a single track (don't just select the tracks, but select the actual clips you want to combine)
2. right-click on one of the selected clips (does not matter which one) and then go to 'event' --> 'mixdown selection'

That will create a new track with an audio clip of the combined clips you selected. :)

After playing around withe Show Page. I think it's really slick. Definitely much easier to deal with than MainStage. For those that are expecting to b Ableton, I think you are missing the point.

For backing tracks for live bands etc it's imo much better suited to that workflow than Ableton (which requires more setup than I like to deal with).

I did a test session with a live vocal, a guitar track and the backing track. Was super easy to setup.

One thing though is that I'm not seeing the new version of the Studio One Remote which would let us control the Show Page. Right now all I see is 1.5.1 the version we need is 1.6. Don't know if Presonus released it yet or if when it will come out.

I think I saw on their forum it should be out in days.

Cool. They didn't make that clear in the videos so I wasn't sure.
