Examples?wuworld wrote: Sat Mar 13, 2021 11:49 pmWhat's interesting is that I'm seeing many music producers who showcased Studio One now or from the past are moving over to Ableton. Some established producers as well I noticed have moved on as well. So Presonus really won't have anybody to showcase it compared to a Live or FL. 5.2 won't cut it the way todays market is.apoclypse wrote: Wed Mar 10, 2021 7:22 pmI've actually had this happen to me. I walked into producers meetup and had S1 open. They were like "Studio One? What's that?" It was pretty diverse group too, with Ableton (the majority), Logic, Reason and FLStudio users, even Sybelius, and everyone was left scratching their heads when I opened S1. it took me by surprise since I thought everyone knew about S1. Sometimes I forget how niche our community is and S1 users are a niche of a niche. So yeah Presonus has some work to do.wuworld wrote: Wed Mar 10, 2021 6:59 pmI think they are just adapting to where the market it is. Kinda like what you see with Steven Slate right now vs just catering to rock guys. One major producer who did a interview with Presonus said this “There have been times where I’ve walked into big label studio sessions and people look confused because they’ve never seen Studio One in person!" It's 2021, and that's a problem when a pro producer say's that.dellboy wrote: Wed Mar 10, 2021 3:27 pmOk, "chasing" was the wrong word. Let me rephrase my question as, obviously, you didn't quite understand it.
Which indicators do you see, regarding this new update, that they are "chasing Pro Tools"?
The emphasis on live performance - score writing - song arranging.
And - they are not trying to attract the FL Studio - Bitwig - Live crowd.
Either or the producers are the one's selling Studio One right now. PT is the standard in pro studios etc. For production in the industry I think FL/Logic/Ableton are still the choice for modern producers/songwriters. Studio One still hasn't cracked that area like that.

Gotta look at it this way, Presonus on stores pushes their hardware more than they push their software.
Also Studio One 5 still doesn't really cut into the industry hard because the lack of effects. I mean for mixing it's great and has most the bases covered as well as mastering. But creative effects are severely lacking and it's where the others REALLY come in strong.
Now on the flip side, if you have a bit of money to buy effect bundles then its pretty neat to use.
Amp sims, delays, eqs, and compressors will only go so far and needing to rely on 3rd party stuff that just adds more money.

Live and FL are very creative, experimental and trendy and has enormous online hype.
Cubase, Logic are established, mature and advanced
Protools, recording studio standart.
Studio One has a hard and long way. Although it is fantastic there is no online hype, no known famous users or songs from any genre.
Ever DAW has more or less have its established user base.
Live, FL for EDM, Hiphop, experimental, younger generation
Cubase, Logic for Mainstream and Media Composing
Protools for Recording Studios, Dub stage, Mixers, Rock World.
Looks like adding features to get a piece from all of these is not a good way to establish a steady user base.
I personally know a producer who went crazy for Studio One features, started using it and in no time went back to Logic.

The thing is that some of those artists don't say much
For instance, a very popular trance artist ATB
Surprised me to hear that he uses Studio One. But like I said is that there's probably some big names out there using it and not saying anything.
Just like Reason has some BIG names and most people would have never guessed.

So apparently the most used DAW is fl studio 20.8 crack!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Personally I don't thing S1 is that different from other linear DAWs (in the end all will result in linear because music itself is linear!).
The effects look fine to me. Ok, they are maybe not my favourite or top class, but most DAWs are like that. If you really want triple A or 5 stars effects, then you need to spend money on 3rd party effects. But for me, Valhalla reverb and maybe soon a Limiter from TDR are mostly enough. Although, I have no problem using the built in EQ, Compressor and Limiter besides the delay and distortion if needed (most instruments come already with several effects).
About famous artists using S1 or not, I really don't care about that and I laugh when I read such childish concern
But I also laugh because I remember when I started, I wanted to know what my favourite musicians or bands using, like this is the secret in success that nobody knows

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

If anyone is genuinely interest about what gets used professionally this article is pretty interesting although a bit out of date.

Pro Tools was by far the most common DAW associated with producers who worked on the top 100 US albums.

I agree. I did not write it as a concern. I do not care either. I have started using Studio One since Version One when almost nobody knew about it at all and I used it up until now, but currently there is a big wave of ' I have no idea what I am doing' type of online crowd who just wants to be a 'producer' that goes after what their favorite producer use and these types drive the popularity and commerce. When you search how to make a certain genre on youtube you are faced with hundreds of either Live or FL tutorial. Why do you think Logic and DP added Clip launchers, Studio One Pattern editor, Atom SQ etc. All because of a hope to catch that Live, FL loving starter crowd.EnGee wrote: Sun Mar 14, 2021 8:41 am

It's true. I haven't come across many artist videos or endorsements for Studio One either. It probably still has a bit of an insider tip status.
But then, don't we all know that the music industry mainly does their money with hobbyists these days?
