Hi Gang
I've got a similar problem to this guy:
http://www.kvr-vst.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=59154
Mac OS 10.3.5 (but it's happened before that)
latest Tracktion (1.6.something, but it happened before that too)
built in sound (no card)
It's happened a few times where I open up a song I worked on yesterday and something from the first track I recorded is gone (file missing). In this case it was drums, but Tracktion was looking for EPiano5.aif.
I did some tests, and sometimes Tracktion is writing the first track into the Tracktion application package, and naming it EPiano.aif (or EPiano1 etc.)
When the app quits (maybe when the machinee shuts down) that file is erased WHOA!
I religously start every project fresh in a new folder ALWAYS.
please tell me what's going on
thanks!

well anything that is in the tracktion temporary folder is going to get deleted when t shuts down.
Are you sure you aren't saving stuff into the area that tracktion is using for temp space?

Hi-
very sorry I disappeared
hope you can still help, Valley
I've got my Tracktion Temp folder set in a "songs" folder.
These disappearing files are all in the tracktion package (MacOS folder within the package) and they are all being named EPiano.aiff (or EPiano1,2,3 etc.)
Again, I always create a new folder for each new song (I'm like that), I assume that files will be recorded into that folder (only one file per song is having this problem, the first)
Sometimes I don't name a track before I record so the file looks like: "audio_ungh_track 4_7Oct2004(2).aiff" but there's another file in this song "Ungh" that is gone? Does naming have anything to do with it?
any more ideas?
thanks very much

EDIT>
AAAAAGGHHH!!!!!
I just went through all of my Tracktion recordings, some of which I haven't touched for months-more than half (about ten) of these songs are missing a file and are looking for, you guessed it, EPiano(#).aiff in Tracktion app>Contents>MacOS
Most of these are drums, and some I named with my drum machine song number, but some are just plain gone
I am sad

well-I'm having a conversation with myself
but here's what I've got
I went through and replaced alot of the drum tracks, the naming problem lies in the input-it stays whatever it was last named, so my next track will be called "New Drums A10" because that's what the last thing was called. weird.
All of my new recordings went right into the Tracktion App package, I moved them and resourced the clips-but ths couldn't be right-and why just the first track I record?
anyone?
Hope this helps someone else!

I think the problem is definitely in the setting you have for the "Filename" entry for the input device arrow. Try pressing the Reset Filename button below the Filename field. This will restore it to its default location, in the project folder. If you delete the default and enter in just a file name (as it apears you have but I'm not confident I understand exactly what you have done) it will put the file in weird places. I couldn't duplicate your exact results but when I entered just a name for that field, my audio file was recorded into my VST folder. Obviously not what I wanted. The default setting is pretty good as it names the file after the Edit track, name and date. If you want to customize it, be sure to leave the %projectdir%/

Great, I'm glad that did it. I wasn't looking forward to tracking down what was going on if it really was a bug.

Wait! So are you trying to say that someone(in this case, Beno) REALLY IS helping Jules with some of the coding? This wouldn't be a bad thing. But Beno, if YOU weren't looking forward to it, then you must be helping! You don't have to admit it, but it brings more hope to having Jules get more done.Beno wrote:Great, I'm glad that did it. Also, it's nice to see you around Beno. Your presence is almost soothing to us, as it lets you know someone is really here and listening. Thanks.

That's really kool Beno! It really is comforting to know that Jules has someone else on his team so he can focus more on coding.
So, eh, what new feature are you testing at the moment
?
