seems but the millionaire dollar question is it a feature or bugantic604 wrote: Sun Mar 14, 2021 4:56 pmCan they, though? Last time I tried (which was 5.0 or 5.1), changes made to clips in Scratch Pads wouldn't be carried over to Arranger, even though I was linking them.xbitz wrote: Sun Mar 14, 2021 11:13 amthe scratchpads and the arranger clips in the main arranger can be connected together, workflow will be similar to the blocks one in Reason
Presonus Studio One 5.2 vs Cubase 11

Neither.xbitz wrote: Sun Mar 14, 2021 5:02 pmseems but the millionaire dollar question is it a feature or bug
Scratch Pads were never meant to work like Blocks in Reason
Although it would be a killer feature if one could duplicate-shared segments from Arranger Track

^^^
anyway this is how Bitwig should work

not S1
this S1 guy is quite an interesting a DAW, it needs some additional modular fx like RapidFx by default which has its own modulation framework

but after seems pretty usable for me, uff

Ahh interesting - yeah this does work for me. When you moved an already shared section to a scratch pad it retains the link across both the main arranger and scratch pad! Very cool...though I think it might be a bug? There is no way to copy it shared, only move something that is already shared...

I tried POP OS, which is very nice, but it would not dual boot windows. After much messing around with terminals and the rest I gave up and installed Linux Mint to an external SSD which is now dual booting. It turns out that POP OS does not use grub but some other system. I have tried Linux in the distant past, but I now remember why I gave up on it. You either like fiddling around with the terminal or hate it. I am the latter.antic604 wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 5:55 pmI like - or need, actually - constraints.dellboy wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 5:35 pmI have been thinking of trying Linux. Why did you move ? and how are you finding it ?
Not having access to all the "toys" that I have in Windows feels more liberating and freeing, allowing to focus on a more limited palette: Bitwig stuff + (comparatively) small selection of native Linux plugins from U-He, TAL, Vital, Surge, Bom Shanka, AudioDamage, illformed.
Also it feels safer, more under control, runs better if you're not affraid to google your way through inital stumbling blocks
Give it a go - just install it on a removable SDD or USB drive and see how you feel about it, without taking any risk or commitment. Any of the Ubuntu flavours will probably be the easiest to find your way around initially, with pop!_OS being my favourite right now, but there's something for everyone there.

I'm not a fan of terminal either, but nowadays you don't need to do that very often and usually it's just a copy & paste from some Google searchdellboy wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 10:22 am...I have tried Linux in the distant past, but I now remember why I gave up on it. The only thing I'm surprised about is how many people run Linux, but actually use WINE and VST bridges to run their "normal" DAWs and Windows plugins on Linux. I completely don't see the point in that, unless someone really has an axe to grind with Windows
Frankly, I'm still in 2 minds about it, too.

It might deceive a bit. All the statistics I've seen rather hint on 1 or 2 % of the common population.antic604 wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 10:30 am The only thing I'm surprised about is how many people run Linux
That's the issue with the internet in general. It doesn't reflect the common population.
The Linux folks are great at thematising their stuff though, as this topic shows.

And yes - If you only use the instruments in Bitwig, there is no need for VST emulation. However - If you want some extra instruments you sadly have to use that VST bridge, because there is no Linux native version available.
To go back on topic. I personally like Cubase for a lot of reasons, but the Control Room is one of my main reasons to stick with Cubase (as said there are a lot more reasons, but I want to keep it short here).

Yeah, I did plenty of copying and pasting in the last couple of days to try to get it to work, but to no avail.antic604 wrote: Mon Mar 15, 2021 10:30 am

Thsi morning I fiddled with the grub setting to try and get windows to have priority and ended up nuking both windows and Linux ! grrrrrrrrrrrrr
Anyways, I had a recent windows backup and have reinstalled and given up on Linux for the time being.
