Hi,

what would be the preferred way of saving a Drumkit, single sounds etc. in MDrummer?
I refer to viewtopic.php?t=402390&sid=0a70217f1265 ... 7a850795a0
Yes, add your own folders of stuff to Melda's directory. You can save the song, various Rhythms, loops, settings, drumsets, individual tweaked drums, layers...etc, it all goes in with Melda's stuff to be loaded later or indeed if relevant to be included in generating.
Example: I have edited the kick, Snare & Toms of CURRENT DRUMSET - DEFAULT BREAKBEAT.
I click Save As in the DRUMSET TOOLBAR and give it a name "Bingo".

New song, new Drumset. There i don't like the Snare, so i would like to replace it with my (edited) Picollo 007.wav from my (User) Drumset "Bingo" i saved before.
Is this possible, or do i have to use "Save As Layer" or "Export as Layer" in the "VELOCITY LAYERS" > Menu for every edited Sound, i would like to use in a different drumset later?

Ah, i just found http://www.meldaproduction.com/tutorial ... tor-part-1
Load & Replace seems to be the thing at although the heading in the window "LOAD AND REPLACE DRUMSET" is a bit irritating, isn't it?

Yes, it's a bit confusing. 'DRUMSET' is an umbrella term. It could consist of anything from many drums (including percussion) down to just one drum. Notice that 'load', 'load and join', 'load and replace', and 'save as' all point to the same directory (scroll up to the root to see that). All the what-we-usually-call 'drumsets' are there, and there's a sub-directory of 'components'.
When you save a drumset (which consists of all the drumtypes in the drumlist) you are not saving the individual components. To load (or load/replace) your edited Picollo into a new drumset you need to have saved it separately, so yes, you're on the right track thinking layers, but not quite. Your snare might well consist of several layers.
Better to save a 'component' (all the layers plus drum settings) using the 'folder' icon top of the DRUM LIST..that takes you straight to the components sub folder of the root DRUMSETS folder.
Another thing is that if you want your edited drumtypes to be included in the 'generate drumset' thing they must be saved in the components directory..MD generates kits from the collection of components.
Another way to load/replace individual components is Quick Setup> Designer.

Keep in mind that Drumsets, Components, Drumtypes, and Layers point to samples but don't actually contain samples.
And note that a component although usually containing just one drumtype can have more than one.... E.G. there are HH components that actually consist of three drumtypes--Open, Closed and Pedal. So the heirachy is Drumsets> components> drumtypes> layers> samples, but you can miss out the components level and just create drumset> drumtypes> layer(s)> sample (or other source). Yep, spagetti.

Puuhh! But thanks a lot for your detailed info.

Would it be asked too much, if you explain this more precisely for a densely guy :? :

Which "folder" icon..., components sub folder? Does the screenshot show the "Folder" icon top and components subfolder?

AND: When i would like to load/import e.g. a MDrummer snare with exactly the same sound (fx etc. included) into another drumplugin, what would be the method? Export Layer?

No, your screenshot shows the actually sample directory.
The folder icon is in DRUMSET EDITOR> DRUM LIST (on the left)> one of the buttons just above the list.
The components sub folder is part of the overall DRUMSETS folder which you see when you click the Load button in DRUMSET EDITOR> DRUMSET TOOLBAR. That overall DRUMSET directory (with components sub-directory) is also what you see on the left in QUICK SETUP.

'Export Layer' exports a particular layer as a wave file into MD's own sample directory. E.G. you have edited a sample's envelope/pitch and want to save those edits as a new wav file.
You can't apply FX to individual layers. The FX panel in DRUMSET EDITOR is for Drumtypes... select a Drumtype in the DRUM LIST on the left then add an FX in the FX panel on the right.

To "load/import e.g. a MDrummer snare with exactly the same sound (fx etc. included) into another drumplugin", you need to record MD's output in real time.
You could do this in DAW...set up a DRUM TYPE with FX, trigger a pad, record the ouput, stash the wav file to use as a sample elsewhere.
OR,
MD> main SETTINGS (top right)> AUDIO RECORDING> Enable WAV file output. Can output straight to hard drive.

Generally,

A DRUMSET is a collection of DRUM TYPES (click the + button in the DRUM LIST to see all the DRUM TYPES).
Each DRUM TYPE has its own settings in DRUM and ADVANCED (below the DRUM LIST), and its own FX.
Each DRUM TYPE needs to be associated with source material (sample or synth etc), and can have one or more layers. Each layer has its own source.

Without even thinking about components you could build/save a DRUMSET from scratch by adding DRUM TYPES to the DRUM LIST> choose appropriate samples and layers> adjust settings and FX for each DRUM TYPE> adjust overall settings in the DRUMSET TOOLBAR> Save.
But if in future you want to load an already configured DRUM TYPE you need to save/load/load & join it as a component.
When you save a DRUMSET, all the DRUM TYPE settings/associations are saved within the overall DRUMSET file but not as stand alone components.

Thank you very much!
PERFECT EXPLANATION :tu:

My pleasure (and something to do in Lockdown with zero gigs).
Just another general thing to pull it all together:
DRUM TYPES are the link (or bridge) between RHYTHMS and actual drums (samples).
See the DRUM TYPES on the left in RHYTHM EDITOR. Part of a loop's data is the DRUM TYPES used.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this I get most of it but how can I get the same list as in Load in the triggering section ?

EDIT: I think I found my answer in the Designer tab for now. Simple but not easy.
