I'd love a 'channel strip' window that opens all the plugins for a selected track, preferably in signal chain order. Could live in the same space as the mixer (which I honestly never use).

Bidule, which is like Racks on steroids, allows you to right-click and 'replace' ie swap out a plugin with another one, maintaining the connections. Should be standard in all hosts, IMO.spoontechnique wrote: Sun Feb 28, 2021 8:08 pm The biggest issue I have with racks is being unable to switch out and audition different plugins quickly when using the routing of rack view. In stack mode it's obviously no problem, but stack mode breaks if you use routing. For example, if I had a Rack that splits a guitar track into two stompbox > amp chains and back into a power amp > cab sim, it's a pain to have to switch out different stompbox plugins.
Is it possible to have some kind of "container" in Racks? I'm imagining a sort of slot with I/O routing, so that you can delete a plugin but maintain your chain. So if you want to switch out a plugin, you can just delete it from the container and swap in a new one. This would also allow you to setup empty chains. For example, a band splitter chain that goes to 5 bands, and then each band has containers you could slot any plugin into. That would make working with Racks much quicker than having to individually re-route 5 plugins every time you want to try something different.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Bidule seems to have some features that would be great in Racks. For example, the ability to save smaller "groups" within a rack.
What I'm imagining is that deleting a plugin basically replaces it with a volume plugin (maybe with mute/solo added?). That way I could set up a complex chain (say, a band-splitting chain) and decide what goes into it later.

MONO..!
We need mono switch on the mix bus.
Tried doing it with a rack but it either sums the two channels and therefore makes direct comparison between stereo and mono difficult as you need to balance the volumes (see image "mono2 rack"), or it only outputs to the Left (see image "mono1 rack").
Please give us a mono option!
Cheers

I'm a recent convert to Tracktion, mostly sequencing and recording external gear. Two simple featues I'd love to see are:-
1) Attaching text notes to a track. For example, to describe a guitar effects chain for future reference. Even better, the ability to add a photo so I could take a phone snap of my settings and store it with the notes. This would be great for users of semimodular synths.
2) Something similar to Bitwigs 'MIDI CC' device - basically 8 on-screen knobs that can be assigned CC values. These in turn can be labelled and linked to a physical controller, a modifier or automation.

Here's an easy one.
It's high-time for Waveform to have its built-in effects updated. I don't mean to add new features (come on, it's a basic compressor), but to sizzle up the appearance a bit. They look very, very flat and plain.
On the other extreme, I don't think they need to go the full Logic route, with tons of color elements, but maybe spruce them up with some snazzier designs.
Oh, and put in a real triplets option (quads, quintuplets, sextuplets, etc.) I'll keep listing this one.

Also, better triplet control!

FR: When I open a project under a template, creating new edits should have the option to also open using that template. Right now they always open as blank edits rather than the project template.

+1. I was about to request this just last night but I convinced myself to look around more to see if it's possible. I'd take it a step further and say that you should be able to start a template based new edit even when you didn't start the project with one.spoontechnique wrote: Fri Mar 19, 2021 5:15 pm FR: When I open a project under a template, creating new edits should have the option to also open using that template. I think I accidentally deleted a request, so apologies if this has appeared before.
We should be able to select a color for the plug in icons in the output section. Just as Racks are violet and Air plugins are Brown, I'd like to see 6-8 color choices we can pick. For example, a red plug could mean "Don't mess with these settings," or green could mean "Okay to adjust this setting."
Not saying the color meanings should be predefined, but it would be nice to right-click on an inserted plug in and pick a color from a very short list. The meanings will be up to the user.
Yeah, and triplets need to be revamped.
