249EUR, split payment option. Good enough for me.
(upgrade from v6)
Patchwork presets sound great. So do many of the VIs in the bundle.
Not a fan of their Rhodes, Piano, Mellotron and Organ. But hey, there's so many left that are really great.

Well, I prefer Arturia's strategy. Whatever you buy from NI between Komplete releases won't count against your upgrade price. With Arturia, judging by OB-X it will.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Wed Jan 13, 2021 1:46 pm But with NI it is crystal clear what you are buying. All the updates, upgrades and crossgrades are clearly labelled and always available, with or without discount. With Arturia, they just show reduced price when you are logged in and have applicable products. If you are comparing Arturia's VC upgrades with Komplete upgrades, I think that is not a fair comparison.

True, but honestly, as I said (in bold above in my comment), I don't see this to be a fair comparison. NI allows you to resell their products, even upgrades and upgrades, so can always resell them when you update your Komplete. Or better yet, just not buy individual products and update/upgrade your Komplete every 2 years.soulata wrote: Fri Mar 19, 2021 11:34 amWell, I prefer Arturia's strategy. I think they tend to sound phasey. Something to do with their TAE/anti-aliasing I'm sure. The newer ones are better though. I quit like the sound of the Jupiter and Synthi.martinjuenke wrote: Thu Mar 18, 2021 10:16 pm Am I the only one who thinks that Arturia sounds tend to be overprocessed and artificial? Some sounds are interesting but...

In this year i'm planning to buy only one big pack of plugins (bundle) or a gear (analog synth). I think it will be AVC 8, or i will buy Korg Minilogue XD. Guys, what will be better to buy, V collection 8 or Korg Minilogue XD? BTW, i'm using Ableton.

If you buy V Collection 8 during a 50% off sale in future, you can save the remaining $300 to help with buying Korg minilogue XD.Yaroslove wrote: Sat Mar 20, 2021 7:09 pm In this year i'm planning to buy only one big pack of plugins (bundle) or a gear (analog synth). If you already have a good MIDI keyboard and mostly work on a computer inside a studio, V Collection 8 would be a better value in terms of sounds and possibilities, especially at $300 (assuming Arturia does a 50% off sale, which they typically do twice a year or so).

...but, my question is more about experience of using analog synth with Ableton in compare with plugins.
Yes, but I think the question should rather be about using plugins with a specific DAW. Not sure how using an analog synth would differ for Ableton (DAW). Hardware will give you more hands-on for playing it without a computer and you can easily record its output into Ableton (or any DAW for that matter).
If you already have a good number of synths covering different type of sounds/synthesis, go with hardware.

Sorry to piggyback on your post, but I was just looking at the upgrade (also on 6) and I just coulnd't justify buying.SLiC wrote: Wed Mar 17, 2021 10:37 pmI’m also on 6 and the upgrade price is too high for me, I’ll see what 9 brings...the last must have synth for me was the Buchla, all the other synths since then are good, but I just don’t need them.
Going by the numbers of synths included over V6, sure $249 sounds fair, but I just don't need what's included.
I'm looking at the Microfreak as an option which basically the same primce. I wish they left off the keys and I would have purchased that one already.

Yup- good hardware is cheaper than a software upgrade now-a days!
I bought (ordered) one of these instead for 199 USD (inc the case!) https://sonicware.jp/pages/liven-xfm-preorder

Yeah. I think that these big-poly emulations sell the package so they go for those. I'm more interested in their products that yield interesting results from a combination of user interface, technology emulation, and Arturia enhancements to the emulation. I think that the digital synths in 4/6 as well as the Buchla did that but I've not been compelled to buy since. I do want the upgraded jup-8, but it can wait to be seen as a bonus with all of the other 7/8 synths that come along for the ride when 9 comes out.SLiC wrote: Wed Mar 17, 2021 10:37 pmI’m also on 6 and the upgrade price is too high for me, I’ll see what 9 brings...the last must have synth for me was the Buchla, all the other synths since then are good, but I just don’t need them.

That's a crazy price for what it does. I want to see the Circuit Tracks up close before going another groove box direction. I love what I can do with just the Op-Z, so I'm a big believer in what these things can do for creativity. The onboard fx (of the xfm) should really open things up too.SLiC wrote: Sun Mar 21, 2021 7:24 pm Yup- good hardware is cheaper than a software upgrade now-a days!

I think Arturia's still going to get my money in the form of Microfreak. I really like the sounds it can make without any onboard fx. I rather get a hydrasynth, but even the desktop version has too large of a footprint.

I have a Hydrasynth, its superb. I sold my Microfreak, its great vale and absolutely nothing wrong with it but I have Plaits in my Eurorack and am just fighting for desktop space. The XFM has the advantage of being battery powered and even having a built in speaker, so nits a different kind of portable tool, and yes, these little groove boxes are fun and inspiring and get you away from a computer screen!elxsound wrote: Sun Mar 21, 2021 7:59 pmThat's a crazy price for what it does. Plaits is one of my big draws to it... and I was just griping in another thread that I think I'm two years away from going Eurorack, or else I'd be content there and skipping Microfreak.SLiC wrote: Sun Mar 21, 2021 8:06 pmI have a Hydrasynth, its superb. I should add that I stumbled on this one too: https://www.polyeffects.com
They've added the mutable instrument modules there too, but I haven't explored it enough. This should compare well with Emperss Effect's ZOIA, but touch screen.
