Yea I sold Omnisphere because of the lack of updates. Thats really important to me, when companies like Kilohearts, U-He and Xfer have close relationships to their customers and listen to their customers, its hard to justify buying from a company that doesn't have that kind of communication.

Its very tempting to get Falcon 2, but I always go back to "Cant I just do this faster, and more efficiently in another synth?"

Am I missing something or Falcon DAW automation doesn't work yet on Big Sur in Ableton?

Not to me at all, but that is very subjective.

Falcon does have very good sound quality. Plus it also does things Omni doesn't (additive synthesis, physical modeling through the Pluck oscillator, 4-operator FM, phase distortion on wavetables, timestretching, beat slicing, and instead of a single user sample you can do full-blown custom multisampling too).

If this is how you think in terms of sound design, personally I think Falcon will likely be disappointing, as it was for me for the same reason. It really is a shame that there isn't any kind of demo, you could just try it and find out for yourself.
Always Read the Manual!

I think the layers are too strictly separated, it's a bit complicated to make sound layers which should sound like a single sound (aka like Serum layers) working nicely together, using the same split frequency and so on. Maybe it would help, if you could view two layers at once side-by-side or so... And all modulators on the right, ready to drag n drop.

I would argue that Falcon 2 is better than Omnisphere and more versatile as a synth altogether. The sound quality that I get out of Falcon seems much better than the sound quality I get from Omnisphere. And both are really good synths but I lean towards the sound of Falcon 2.

I don’t go tooooo deep into sound design territory but when I do Falcon is a dream for that stuff. You can really create any kind of synth tones you want. So I’d say to anyone considering it, pull the trigger and really invest some time into learning it. It’s totally worth it if you ask me.

You can simply use multiple oscillators within a single keygroup, then they share the filter and so on. Not really a huge problem tbh.

I like the sound of Falcon once every five or so days I listen to it.. I like Omnisphere every day.
Sadly neither have demos for the questioner to decide for himself.

Anyone knows how the licensing of third party libraries for Falcon works?

Can you just sell Falcon presets without paying a fee to UVI? Would those preset also work on UVI Workstation?

Ah, the old sound quality debate, usually BS. Omnisphere is reknowned for having great sounds. In a lot ways it was ahead of its time, and some people consider it a one stop shop. What exactly do you mean by 'sound quality', what are you listening back on and are you the kind of person who thinks DAWs sound different? This is more to SoftSynthLover99

What I mean by sound quality is, the actual quality of sound coming from the synth. Falcon 2 to my ears comes across in mixes as really modern, edgy and aggressive. Omnisphere is more spacey and warm sounding and when you strip the FX off the patches, a bit dull sounding IMO.

The more I use Falcon the more I hear the difference in sound quality compared to other Synths I use. Omnisphere is really good as I said though, I just think in 2021 I would pick Falcon easily if I had to choose.

Yeah a demo would be great for both. I find that listening to a synth or instrument and actually playing and using it are very different experiences. When first listening to demos of falcon I was like Meh, it’s ok. But actually playing and using it in songs was a completely different experience.

And falcon sort of has a demo. In UVI workstation they have a few falcon presets to demo, although nothing major.

I guess its more that I have a sound in my head, and serum just gets me there fast. Even complicated sound design in other synths, is just fast in serum. Im still on the fence with Falcon. Thing is, I like designing like Noisia and Koan Sound type stuff, and there aren't any videos displaying what Falcon is really capable of in regards to that kind of sound design. Videos are mostly just presets, and that kinda sucks because I don't really like the presets I hear lol
