Double post - not sure how I delete this

This looks like it could be exactly what I'm looking for!

As a guitarist I've got a nice little 'backing band' going with Collective and the Platforms soundset - just need to breathe a bit of realism into the bass guitar.

Could somebody confirm that it will be Linux friendly? Any idea when it will be available?

I don't think you can delete posts, but you would want to keep the initial post as it's the foundation that all responses build on.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Double for what? I cannot see another post with similar topic?

I don't mean to interrupt this discussion about "double or nothing" posts, but for anyone interested in the Dan Dean bass collection, I'll offer my two cents. The library sounds nice at first, but unless they've expanded it from the version I got, you might want to keep in mind that it's not a multi-sampled bass library, and there are no round-robin samples. I also don't think it offers many (if any) articulations or sound effects like thumps or fret noise.

I liked it when I got it years ago, but it was one of the first sample libraries I bought (mostly on the strength of the Hofner and Rickenbacker basses in it), and I haven't used it in years. It offered a much wider collection of basses than Kontakt 4 offered at the time, but the basses themselves weren't sampled as deeply as NI's were, even then. That said, the Dan Dean basses can layer nicely with others, if you want to try that. I think I paid $20 for it in...2008? I don't know what it's going for now, but I know there are better ones, even for free.

I now return you to your previous discussion about post discussions. ;)

From what I am seeing, it looks like there have been several collections with very similar names over the years - I am seeing a large collection for Kontakt which had 4000+ samples but was only available for two weeks one year and was a limited-time product offering; there was another one for either GigaStudio or Emu E3X which shipped on physical CDs...

It is not clear from the limited information I've seen whether Tracktion's upcoming offering will be reusing the samples from one of the previous collections or is something entirely new?

Thanks for the info on the Dan Dean bass samples. Watching the video again and the product is visually very similar to Collective so I'm hopeful for Linux support. It also mentions construction packs which is intriguing.

Any suggestions for Linux friendly alternatives would be most welcome. My online searches have drawn a blank.
