Another thing Audacity does that no other editor can do is host all those great vamp analysers:
Nice 'dark mode' too, with that translucent menu!
I love editors, and use four: Audacity for analysing, AudioFinder for organising, DSP-Quattro for processing, ircamLab TS2 for designing. Some overlap, but all very different.

"somewhat free"? What is that supposed to mean? Reaper is NOT free at all. That is a simple fact!
Stop spreading nonsense like that!

No, actually he is completely and totally spot on - personally I prefer the somewhat oldish and ugly but highly functional GUI of Audacity over the Melda GUIs. You have a different opinion and act as if this valuable and unquestionable opinion of yours was a glorious fact that others are too stupid and too unworthy to see.chk071 wrote: Sun Mar 21, 2021 3:24 pmWell, thanks for pointing that out then. But how is that relevant to this discussion? It rather appears to me as if you get personally insulted when someone says something bad about your software. Which makes you... what exactly? Kind of immature, if you ask me. Especially when you need to reach for topics which have absolutely zero to do with it. Which don't even belong to this forum, but happened in a vendor's forum. WTH really.
Your negative remarks about Audacity here contributed nothing of any worth to this thread - or to existence in general - and obviously their only purpose was:
a) to make you feel better about yourself
b) to rub your assumed betterness into other peoples' faces in an attempt to make you feel better about yourself
c) to rub the bad taste and judgement of others' in their faces so that they can see your betterness so that you can feel better about yourself.
You failed.

I really have no idea what you have to be smoking to prefer this:

over this:

But, hey, whatever.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and stuff.

Although it's not even about beauty in this case. Rather about operability as well.

Personally I use software, rather than just looking at it - but hey, whatever.

We get it, Audacity doesn't have the faux wood, so it's bad

Actually, Audacity looks way more consistent and "cute" in its old-school aesthetic. Melda's stuff is just "programmer art" - functional, but without any identity, flair, design effort.chk071 wrote: Tue Mar 23, 2021 12:35 pm I really have no idea what you have to be smoking to prefer this:

Let's not makes this about Melda. They have their own dedicated topics with unequivocally opinions about their UI and workflow...
I like Audacity for literally opening up without loading time. Other wave editors need to preload stuff or initialize it. I recently needed to create DTMF tones and only knew Audacity for being able to create those nice and easy. The dark theme indeed is already an improvement.
