I’m not a newbie. Ping me if you have the following experience in logic:
- film scoring
- music production
- mix/master
- sampling (optional)
Also I’m on logic 10.4 so if you can help me install 10.5 without upgrading to Big Sur, it’d be great.
Can you please share how you did it?pdxindy wrote: Mon Mar 22, 2021 4:27 pm I'm using Logic 10.6.1 on Catalina... so you can use the latest without needing Big Sur!
The latest Logic works well with the latest Logic Remote (iOS) if you have an iPad... which includes the new Sequencer.
The App Store update... the usual. Nothing extra to do. I'm on 10.15.7 (Catalina).keyman_sam wrote: Mon Mar 22, 2021 10:19 pmCan you please share how you did it?pdxindy wrote: Mon Mar 22, 2021 4:27 pm I'm using Logic 10.6.1 on Catalina... so you can use the latest without needing Big Sur!

Alas, I'm on Mojave. Afraid to take the plunge as I'm in the middle of a project.pdxindy wrote: Tue Mar 23, 2021 12:07 amThe App Store update... the usual. Nothing extra to do. Unfortunately you need Catalina to install anything past 10.4. So that's not an option for you.keyman_sam wrote: Tue Mar 23, 2021 12:58 amAlas, I'm on Mojave. Yeah, IIRC, Mojave is Logic 10.4 only.keyman_sam wrote: Tue Mar 23, 2021 12:58 amAlas, I'm on Mojave. Darn. Oh well, I was really interested for a few things: 1. sampler 2. iPad sidecar so I can put my video on the pad. 3. live loops - so I can put my rough ideas there.pdxindy wrote: Tue Mar 23, 2021 5:45 amYeah, IIRC, Mojave is Logic 10.4 only.keyman_sam wrote: Tue Mar 23, 2021 12:58 amAlas, I'm on Mojave. I had no issues when I upgraded to Catalina. But then I didn't use any 32 bit apps/plugins.
Thanks! Mainly I'm interested in the scoring workflow. I've seen a few YouTube videos but they don't cover what I want.daily patcher wrote: Tue Mar 23, 2021 6:24 am I am still pretty new to Logic, I came from Bitwig but I'm learning a lot more about Logic lately, I might be able to help impart some workflow tips to help you get started quicker, but I don't have tons of experience in all areas listed (I've tried scoring to picture a few times for fun but nothing more than that). Still happy to help.
Logic 10.6.1 is worth it... I love the new Sampler and Quick Sampler. Also the Drum Machine Designer with the new Step Sequencer. Plus Logic Remote... and the Live Loops.keyman_sam wrote: Tue Mar 23, 2021 4:33 pmDarn. Well, I phrased my question poorly. My current flow is to export to movie from Logic, and compress it in Compressor.jancivil wrote: Wed Mar 24, 2021 4:41 pm Well, you know _the_ way to do it. I don't follow how you expect the file to be other than it is in size. You can look at it in DaVinci Resolve to compare. (It costs no money, the basic version, and it's a full-featured application except for the collaboration aspect.)
The file size of the video is what it is, I don't think Logic is a video editing application.
