I think the two main differences that smart:EQ is static while TEOTE is dynamic, and that smart:EQ is AI while TEOTE matches curves. smart:EQ is probably easier to use.

I think I will get the LIVE version from you as I want an adaptive EQ for quick shaping that can alter as the material changes (which is the case for what I make). I am surprised it has not had much of a buzz around it compared to something like Gullfoss - I guess they have primarily marketed it it as a "for live performance / speaking" plugin rather than for studio use

Which eq would you buy for under 100€? I ended trial on Q3, I own nova free, neutron2 and ozone elements, which all have and eq, plus eq8 on live and Melda free One. I am tempted by nova GE, waves f6 or Glisseq. What do you think?

The Ozone EQ is underrated. It's comparable to Q3, although the Elements version lacks some of the functionality. I would recommend getting the Tonal Balance Bundle Upgrade the next time it goes on sale for $149. If you own Neutron Advanced, the Music Production Suite Upgrade for it is $199 right now, which I believe is the lowest price there's been for it.

Anyway, for the price range you're looking at and considering what you already have, I'd say get Voxengo TEOTE.
