I don't understand your reply at all.
Computers aren't artists.
nor are instruments
They'll always require input from humans to invoke emotion, otherwise it's just a bunch of 0's and 1's or robotic parts controlled by 0's and 1's.

Unfortunately, Artificial Intelligence is only as good as the code.
which very well could be an art form of the future, you dont define art...I can easily see AI being worked into many art forms by creative people
I guess that's true. Everybody has a different standard as to what they enjoy or even call music. I think there's a whole genre dedicated to just noise, so who am I to judge.
wow, that was ummm...ridiculous...you think you know what my standard is or you are the arbiter of such things. Here's a little tale for yah, in a couple of months I will celebrate the 50th anniversary of getting my first guitar, that's right, 7/18/1971...guess what AI was then? Two letters...in my 60 plus years I have seen some amazing creativity produced from technology, many times I have been wowed thinking "who would think of that"...so I have an open mind to the future...you seem to have a very narrow mind. I am not threatened that technology will take away my greatest passion, do you feel threatened? I play instruments, have for decades but that does not make me more of an artist than the person who programmed his instruments and AI cant threaten that, I love to play guitar and have for a very long time. FTR some of my best friends are very talented artists, that you might refer to ignorantly as "dedicated to noise"...in fact how many times did my parents call my music "noise"

You know what though, I write music for guitar and no sir I am not afraid to use presets for instruments that are not my strongest to create the art I wish to create and I would use AI as well. For instance I can program drums, I can write drums but I cant play drums, nor do I have any desire to. I use jamstix, it has a "brain", I dont use that often but I do just use the parameters and let it create the drum part for me...which by what you said isn't creative. I play and program my keyboard parts, I play the bass, I play all guitars of course, I play the harmonica, my dulcimer (hammered, which I built...in fact that is how KvR got it's diy forum) and anything else I might have or use (thinking mungo jerry blowing mouth farts into a jug) not to mention all the production stuff too.

Sorry but I think you are way out of line attempting to judge someone in that way, the statement pretty much wraps up where this conversation will go (like they all do)...but here's the thing, where I will go is to pick up my guitar and play like I love to. AI wont have any negative impact on that...but it truly could have positive results...I'll just keep an open mind ;)

It would also be nice to extend the features of each step, like being able to pitch/filter/formant, etc. Also including panning and maybe the ability to add FX to each step.
And the future product I suggested does exactly what you wished for and more.

The AI simply gives you more than just 64 steps... it offers a different type of choosing the timing of a trigger, instead of a rigid splitting of a tempo map, it offers a trigger based on a type of tension. And you have the creative options by adjusting what tensions it's looking for and to what degree.

You then have the creative options deciding what to do with these moments in time that interact with the nature of the tension content of the music itself.

I'm going to try and stay out of you wanting to make this personal and assuming intentions...

That's why music is subjective, but computers aren't. It's going to be a tough, long battle just like it has been to prove that 0's and 1's can be an artist. Because, let's face facts, it's the programmer and the code doing the art.

Now that could be good art or bad art, that's why it's subjective. And the computer won't know the difference, and that's where feelings and emotions come in. A loop hole that computer nerds have been trying to solve technically for decades.

Good luck, we're waiting for that emotional, impactful and worthwhile to listen to masterpiece that's done by a computer.

The more you depend on something, the more it breeds dependency.

so, to answer your initial query. sequencers in reaktor, that requires bit of work to do what you need.
end thread.

don't wanna become dependent on tech doing it for us, do we now...

@topic creator: After all this... why are you actually insisting on computer assisted tools so much to begin with, when they are actually hindering creativity?

I also like nice tools with great workflow, but don't kid yourself: dedicated tools for everything, while of course being nice, also make you lazy and actually don't spark your own creativity as much, as if you had done it with your existing tools within your DAW. Such tools also imprint quite a substential part of the programmer's input in your own work, instead of purely your own

Not that this is wrong in any way, but demanding one technical aid, while downplaying others as: “not emotional“ seems a bit pretentious.
What's next: should we quit using delays too, since they are purely machine generated patterns and thus, “happy accidents“ using these are lacking any human emotion?
The GAS is always greener on the other side!

That's a cute attempt to strike an argument, but that's only one aspect of your perspective.

There's no dependency in having no interest in a technique or longwinded way of doing the same thing efficiently. Why would someone who doesn't enjoy wasting time tinkering around and just wants to actually make music, be bothered by a technical puzzle or an unsolvable riddle?

Depending upon of course, the artist having the feeling and desire for options and freedom in the first place.

One man's music is another man's inspiration, or one man's music sucks, everyone's choice to decide. Things the computer has no clue of what you're talking about, thus the hurdle of digital vs reality.

no argument, just stating a fact.
what you ask for, has been done.

the next step up, would be preset sequences. (which are also available btw).
which like you keep saying, would all be chosen by the coder of said sequencer.

and it's not some massive puzzle to use, i don't know where you get that idea from?
load up sequencer, assign to (track/parameter) - write sequences... (then depending on the sequencer you choose, different options of control)

hope this helps fill your big hole :)
