T7 not registering input from MIDI controller

Hi, I mostly dabble and don't know a lot about DAWs, but I used to be able to play VSTs with my MIDI controller (Nektar Impact LX) in T7 and now I can't. The controller shows up in the MIDI devices list and I can enable it and assign it to a track as normal, but when I press the keys/hit the pads, no sound plays and the keys on the little piano keyboard don't light up. If I click on the little piano, it plays the VST voice as normal. Is there something else I need to do to get it to work? Thanks!

Update: changed some settings I had already changed and now the keys on the little piano are lighting up when I press keys on the controller, but the bar on the input tab on the left side of the track still doesn't register any input/sound and I'm not getting any sound from the VSTs at all. Could this be some kind of error in the program instead of just a settings issue?
