I just bought and registered bluecoat patchwork and before I install it, it says "Install BC PatchWork AAX.pkg” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software." "This software needs to be updated, contact the developers for more information." Help me plzzzzz I really want this plugin to work.

To launch the installer on Mac OS Catalina or Big Sur, you just need to right click and select "Open" instead of double clicking on it. That's Apple's take on "security" for non-notarized binaries. You can find more details about it here.
