Mainly done in various Kontakt libraries, but there are some real instruments in there as well!

Nice piece, with nice transitions. Although i studied classical music i now dare to say which instrument is real and which is not. I have strong suspicions, but it's amazing how good sample libraries meanwhile sound.

purely in terms of structure, one might wonder whether the choir would have been necessary - it could seem a bit over the top. but certainly also depends on the intended use. but thats very personally...

And as Jan has correctly mentioned (very good to hear from you,by the way..been a while) - I should've said "bass clarinet" not the more widely used Bb model! Yeah, it's real; if only recorded in very short melodic loops as such - listen with headphones and you can hear the keys clicking! Was going to be a little more involved, but became too complicated over the internet! Truth is that the final short melodic loops could've been done pretty convincingly via a Kontakt library anyway!

Epic Choir - some might go beyond 'slightly over the top' and call it a little bit 'cheesy'!

I have two versions with the other shorter one completely removing the choir section!

Basically - I will probably do a final uber-polished mix / master of this one and sell it as 'trailer' style music via one of the production libraries that I use. For that market, epic over the top choirs are definitely IN at the moment! But I will also upload the 'none-choir' version as well for the more restrained clients!

This one was meant to be short - 'trashy epic trailer' music is rarely longer than 2 mins 30 secs...apparently it's a 'rule' in the industry as no one EVER watches a trailer that's any longer than that...yeah, makes no sense to me either!

I've put it on my list of pieces to develop into something more satisfying and substantial if I get the chance!

Composing - sometimes it rolls along with ease...sometimes it just hits a wall...this one did flow very quickly from beginning to end in terms of the musical content! Still NOT 100% happy with the mix though...i think it's perfectly serviceable, but somehow lacks a touch of air / space / freedom in the full sections...

of course I could be talking total crap! I'll leave it alone for a few weeks now and then come back to it with fresh ears!

Two and a half minutes? Ha. Go watch some of the Avengers trailers. And you have to listen because if you don't, you miss those extra scenes that they sneak in. Clever little dudes they are. LOL

I guess I'm confused about what a trailer is. The end credits for Endgame is like 10 minutes long. Is that all not considered part of the trailer? Please educate me.

Okay, I found this.

Trailers were initially shown after, or "trailing", the feature film, and this led to their being called "trailers". The practice was found to be somewhat ineffective, often ignored by audiences who left immediately after the feature. Later, exhibitors changed their practice so that trailers were only one part of the film program, which included cartoon shorts, newsreels, and serial adventure episodes. So yes, originally trailers were at the end of the movie, which is why they were called trailers. Well, I still call all that music at the end of movies trailers and some of them are extremely long.

id imagine reprise, yeah, as it's part of the main theme.

the trailer, will often contain either music that is a sort of medley of the actual film, or in some cases, as with scenes, music that doesn't make the final cut.
there are trailers with one composer, then the actual film has a different composer as there was a change mid project.
