Furthermore, all Mac versions now have native Apple M1 SoC support.

BIG thank you for Apple M1 native support

Post

Just noticed that ocenaudio has a native arm build now.

Got an email from Sountoys (because I had issues with their stuff on M1 in the beginning) letting me know that their latest installer 5.3.4 is M1 native now.

There's no info on their site yet, but the installer is in your account.

This is the first time I’ve seen an M1 native iLok dependent plug-in. I’ll be very curious to check it out. Thanks for letting us know.

They must be mistaken. I had a quick look through the installer and all the binaries are Intel-only. So it's likely Rosetta-supported rather than native.

Post

They are most definitely not M1 Native. No iLok stuff is native yet.

too good to be true.
I don’t object iLok or developers using it, but for crying out loud:
with market share comes responsibly.
So where are the native iLok builds? You‘re blocking a whole industry ffs.

Hm, I could not download and try it yet, but this is what the email from their support says:

„Hi there,

You are receiving this email because you've written in to us about our compatibility with the new M1 Macs in the past, and we wanted to update you to let you know that we've just released Soundtoys 5.3.4 which now offers native support for M1. Below is a link to our latest installers:

http://soundtoys.com/downloads

Please let me know if you have any questions, or run into any issues and I'd be happy to help, and have a great rest of your day!“

The link goes to the 5.3.4 installers.

Oh and it came Wednesday, not April 1st ;)

thanks for clarifying.
I‘m adding „native support“ to my ever growing list of terms for „kind of runs with Rosetta“ :)

Yeah, iLok is really dragging their feet on this. For all we know lots of the developers who depend on it already have M1 native builds ready to go, but are now just waiting on iLok to get their act together.

Which is odd because they've been running fine under Rosetta for months now.

i installed crystallizer and as suspected, it doesn't have Apple Silicon binaries...
"native support for M1" ... ugh.

I’m not even saying that they don’t.
But the problem is that every dev says “our plugin runs fine with rosetta” while ignoring the fact that if you run a couple of plugs on Rosetta you’re in for problems, either random cpu spikes or latency while recording. At least that’s my experience.
I’ve had to bin more than one take asking myself was I sober while recording. While re-recording it with only native apps turned out just fine.
I trust Rosetta as far as I can spit when it comes to audio.

Post

I don't have ANY issues with running audio under rosetta, if logic is under rosetta.
if logic is native and plugins are rosetta wrapped, there are memory leaks and instability all over the place.
so if i need ultra low latency when tracking, native plugins only (there's plenty so ok), but when mixing, i go to Logic Rosetta because of iLok plugins.

That is the saddest thing I read all day.

So did Urs kill the discussion, or is there just nothing new anymore? :D
