In Waveform 11 Free... Absolutely stuck. I don't know what I hit. I don't like that Tracktion has so many default shortcuts.

There's a window that I can toggle to a little circle or open, but it used to not be there at all. "Control Waiting to Be Assigned" or "Parameter Waiting to Be Assigned" but I never wanted to assign anything and I wouldn't know how (and I don't want to be unable to undo, jic - but clicking/dragging around hasn't helped).

Also the bottom right is all highlighted purple and those buttons won't work. I can't play my edit, etc. When I hover there's extra highlighting, but I don't understand what it's asking me to do. It won't go away until I assign something, it seems, but that can't be. I want to cancel / exit. Help?

I've attached a photo. TIA

I found the midi learn button. It's the only white one. I remember now this already happened to me but I must have been less tired and freaked. I had to go over a user guide again knowing I wasn't even sure what this stuff is.

I'm glad this thread is here now, lol. I think it should be here for people to find. ;) (This feature's a weird one to me!)

So yeah, I hit something with my MOUSE. Makes sense. Thanks for letting me freak out with my shakes over here, hehe.

@ellarah, I believe the MIDI learn button is used to assign certain functions to buttons on an external controller, allowing you to navigate through your editing process super quick. Then you won't need to use a mouse as often to quickly move from one area of your project to another and also makes activating things like fast forward through a track, rewinding, zooming in and out, etc. A controller also will rid the need of remembering keyboard shortcuts. An example of a controller is Behringer x-one controller. If you take a look at an image of the product, you will see buttons and dials that you can assign. Hopefully this info is helpful. :-)

Also, just click MIDI learn again to get rid of the page you showed in your post.

Thanks I'm lost without a mouse, it's like all I know. I'm not good with my hands but I'm so used to a mouse. (It can feel like an extension of my hand. <3 Second nature to me. <3)

Also, I I mostly use one keyboard shortcut, to save. I also started to use X to zoom out because after a while, my finger hurts.

And, haha, I forgot a midi controller was used for that, I only remembered the MIDI (actual sound) part. Yeah, I don't want all that. I'm just different!!

(I already solved it.)

Sounds like you have a laptop. Stick a mouse in it. I do. Can't stand those fiddly touchpads. Get a mouse and disable your touchpad.
