Trying to figure out how to have MRhythmizerMB Low, Mid, or High Frequency Bands duck out of the way for side-chained incoming audio (e.g. Kick drum).

EXAMPLE SCENARIO
Track 1:
-Wav/Midi VST sound loaded
-MRhythmizerMB with "General 3 Bands" preset loaded for Low, Mid, High filtering

Track 2:
-Wav/Midi VST Kick loaded

Can the Track 2 Kick be side-chained to only duck the desired Low Frequency Band in MRhythmizerMB, leaving the Mid, High Frequency Bands unaffected? If so, what would be the best way to set this up?

Hoping to do things like duck the Low frequencies while adding other MRhythmizerMB FX to the Mid and High frequencies, or vice versa.

Any advice will be much appreciated. :help:

MY SETUP
-DAW: Ableton Live 10.1.13
-OS: macOS 10.14.6
-MRhythmizerMB v14.07 (VST)

Hmmm, I must say I'm very confused about why would you use MRhythmizer for such a task. There are many ways to do that using many other plugins, such as any equalizer with modulators (say MAutoDynamicEq), or automatically using MSpectralDynamics etc. In MRhythmizerMB you need to control each band using something, since I have no idea why are you doing what you are doing and you probably want something creative, I'd recommend checking the modulators:

MRhythmizerMB has the ability to apply effects to individual bands (low, mid, high bands) and sometimes all I need is the low band out of the way for a kick but would like the mids/highs to still shine. I was hoping to be able to sidechain a kick to just the low band while leaving the mid and high bands untouched.

I may be able to figure out the effect I am going for if you can share the answers to the following question when using Ableton Live:
1. How can one sidechain MRhythmizerMB to an external kick?
2. Can a sidechain be applied to only one band within MRhythmizerMB?

If you at can at least share the answer to the number #1 question above, I may still be able to achieve the desired effect.

My current workaround has been to duplicate the same instrument and note arrangement onto 2 tracks:
TRACK 1
-MRhythmizerMB (3 band preset with mid/high bands muted)
-A Kick sidechained via Ableton's built-in Compressor or Glue Compressor,

TRACK 2
-MRhythmizerMB (3 band preset with low band muted)

I greatly appreciate any guidance you can share on this situation.

If I understand correctly you wish to use a Kick to mute (or drop the volume of) Band 1 in MRhythmizer. If so, this might get you started:

-- send the Kick audio into a sidechain input to MRhythmizer
-- open a Modulator, enable it and select the Follower type
-- in the Detector panel enable Sidechain
-- in the Parameters panel, add "Band Gain 1" as the target
-- set the range Value to 0 and the Max Value to -24.
That way when the kick is detected the band's volume should drop by 24 dB

Play in the kick and adjust the Max and Min Levels in the Detector graph. Back on the main window you should see the Band 1 Gain drop in the Band Editor

DarkStar, Heck yesss!! That is exactly what I am trying to do. Thank you so much for the pictures too...super awesome and helpful!

It took me a bit to find the Modulator Section in MRhythmizerMB. For those who are looking, you can find the Modulator Section in the following location in MRhythmizerMB.
1. On the right-hand sideways column, click "Meters & Utilities" button
2. To the right of "UTILITIES" and next to "?" click the tiny up/down arrow to open the dropdown Mod 1-4 options.
3. Click on one of the Mods to modify them and follow the reset of DarkStar's instructions.

PS: MRhythmizerMB is so under rated. I see people using all sorts of other audio shaping tools but I have not found one as powerful as MRhythmizerMB. Granted MRhythmizerMB has a steeper learning curve, but it really blows other audio shaping tools out of the water.

Thank you DarkStar and MeldaProduction Support for all your help on this solution!

You're welcome - does that make me hero20?

And apologies for not explaining where the Modulators are; I did not notice your start date. But think of all the extra stuff you have learned. :)

DarkStar -

You have definitely earned the "hero20" tag! I have been learning a ton and have been trying to use MRhythmizerMB more often in creative ways.

Thanks again!

wow....i learned a lot from this thread and definitely see the power but learning curve behind this plug in.

Facts. I learned 90% about Melda plugins just twiddling with MRhythmizer. Didn't even realize it until I started plugging around the other plugins.

Great explanation btw. I need to figure out how to do those embedded GIF things lol

But i don't think I can have really good direction with the midi effect trigger side of things seeing how all of the octaves are mislabeled....has anyone found a workaround for that? I find myself just pressing random midi at that point.

^^^
The octaves are not mislabelled; the software just uses a naming standard different from the one you are used to.

Workaround? - change the names in your DAW? Use a MIDI transpose FX?

------------
PS I would much prefer the names to start at C-2 too.

the midi transpose FX is a great idea. i don't know why i can never come up with these solutions on my own.
