You can induce feedback loops in DAW using sends but they are very hard to control, whereas Sinmad allows you to dance along the edge of madness by balancing midi note length, velocity, and the three synth feedback parameters.

With the ability to load your own HIAT samples, it would be even more fun.
Thanks, I love to play with that feedback, I think you mean something like this

This is just one bar loop, one instance and playing with feedback knob and echo.

Happy to see and listen to entries already!
I will not add comments here to avoid possible bias. I will comment on SoundCloud on 30 of the month or later.

Yes exactly - I always loved playing with guitar feedback and pedals, and doing it with a synth adds so many possibilities. That's a great example. :)

If you really wanted to avoid bias, I would comment after voting concludes, the 16th of May. But also, I don't think the comments would really bias the voting too much so you could probably just comment whenever you listen and feel like it.

Hi all, here is my submission.

https://soundcloud.com/treeheated/treeh ... que-square

Pretty sure I'll find myself using this synth again. It can achieve satisfying and unique pads if you pile on the resonator and reverb.

Thank you for your generous offer to participants, NUSofting. You may use the track on your website if you want. Admittedly, only a few of the sounds make proper use of the special features of Sinmad, as I was afraid to overdo it. Presets are attached, for the sounds that make sense as presets. For the other sounds, Reaper FX chains are included. I realise that's not so helpful; it's just for completeness.

Hello KVR'ers,

first, I would like to thank Nusoft for the synth and Richard for his effort replying all those PM's. I always wanted to enter a One-Synth-Challenge, somehow it took until this synth came up :-). Of course Nusoft is permitted use the track on their website.

I didn't use any other plugins besides the synth just to try out what is possible with the synth only. It might be interesting for Nusoft as well ;-). In the future I'll certainly will use the synth again, but probably with some more effects (like compression on the drums). I just facing some problem - but I'll post them with more details on the 'reports thread'.

DAW/host: Reaper
FX used: none, only those within the synth itself
Instances of Sinmad: 8

New in Sinmad 0.9.9 beta, now expiring May 16 2021.

(Do not update to this 0.9.9 if your track is already using
modWheel or aftertouch from Sinmad 0.9.8, otherwise you may need
to change your MIDI recording. Moreover due to two LFO bugs fixed, it may
sound different from 0.9.8)

Features:

- Delay matrix 'alternative mixing' modes,
not completely defined yet, but they can already
model some physical instruments, like simple membranes
and flutes. These features will be upgraded.

- Delay matrix master pitch new knob, to fine tune the whole matrix.
Very useful to shape the harmonic responses. also because
'octave', master 'tuning', 'pitch env 2' and osc 'glide'
do not affect the delay matrix.

- Help on screen extended with more info.

- Changed behavior and range of modWheel and aftertouch.
Now the target parameter sets minimum value from which
modWheel and aftertouch start the modulations.

- MIDI monitor: on GUI the values of modWheel, aftertouch and pitchbend
as actually used by Sinmad.

- 26 new presets. (Factory folder "New")

Fixed:

- CC 123 would shut down voices without fading with release.

- EQ plot not animated when modulate by LFO and had conflicts
with GUI EQ controls.

- Main LFO could produce a "click" on first note.

- LFO not modulating matrix times and "harmonics" correctly.

- Delay matrix wrong mono mode.

- Master gain at zero was setting synth engine off.

- Aftertouch was not reaching all possible targets.

- Plug-in resume could cause glitches in DAWs that call it
during playback. (Especially Reaper)

Note about Reaper:

With Reaper 6.28 the issues about:
"Sinmad playing a mono patch in Reaper on macOS can drop the sound
momentarily, when specific conditions of notes timing are met"
and the crash on setting a new position in time line, are gone,
good? Almost.
Not sure why, but still *Sinmad 0.9.9 in Reaper 6.28 on macOS*
can produce audio crackles when matrix or echo are used.
On Windows 10 + Reaper it's much better, but still not as flawless like
in other DAWs.
Sorry for this, but I can't support right now Reaper on macOS.

There seems to be a bug where the duo parameter is not properly restoring when loading a track and further the GUI does not show the correct value (it said off on all the instances that exhibited this problem, EDIT: it seems to show the last adjusted value on all open instances, e.g. I set +10, other instances show +10). I had all my patches sound very bad, and I had to adjust the parameter to some value and back to "off" in order to fix it. Related: it was very difficult to actually adjust that value, took like 5 or 6 click + drags on each one before it actually went to "off". macOS 10.15 + Bitwig 3.3.

Thanks, I will fix that. Anyway to quickly set it off double-click and crtl+click should work.

Does this happen to anyone else? In the beginning, after having sketched out the track with a lot of copy+paste, I am rather enthusiastic about it and think it's the best thing I've done so far, but after having it done "properly", played all the parts and mixed it so it's ready to upload, I start to notice the mediocre sound choices, the flaws in the arrangement and the sucky mix...

I only notice that with other people's tracks :troll:
