But it’s also boring. I mean yeah it sounds good but it’s boring. Definitely not something I’ll be spending money on but glad for those who want this that there is an alternative to Roland Cloud.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Apr 23, 2021 10:19 pmThe GUI and implantation are not the strong points of this emulation.rezoneight wrote: Fri Apr 23, 2021 9:12 pm OK so I downloaded the trial version. I know its kinda not the general consensus here but this isn't exciting to me at all. Not to mention their preset browser is terrible and on the Mac the scrolling direction is f'ed up.

Strange thread. I own a Juno 106. I've had 106's for over a decade. I say that plural because my previous two crapped out on me. My current third one is a thing of beauty and although it was some voice chip issues, it works most of the time.
Anyways, I tried the Softube demo yesterday. It sounds practically identical. It's really quite jaw dropping. Dare I say if you don't like or understand the significance of this plugin, then it's probably not the plugin, it's the 106 you're not into.

And you're an idiot if you think you have the slightest idea about anyone here.
Only until someone proves me wrong, at which time I will modify my opinion to fit with the new facts. I'm sure it is unfamiliar to you but that's how logic works. He must assert his opinion, and its superiority over all others, anywhere and everywhere, and the more places, the better for the needs of his out-of-control ego.
What's the point of only joining in when you agree with everyone? I look at a lot of threads like that but if anything I might have to say has been covered by others, I will usually not bother. Why would I?It's why he shows up in threads about synths he "doesn't care at all about" and then posts endlessly
Your problem, like so many around here, is that you look at the entire world from a totally self-centred perspective. Everything is about you. I'm not like that, what I think is not important. Facts are important, reality is important, I am not important at all. I never make it about me, that's what you guys do. OK, I will use my own experience to illustrate a point but that's because it's information I have access to that helped form whatever view it is I am trying to express. Seriously, what's this, half a page of posts personally attacking me for no f**king reason, other than that I don't share your views on every, little thing. It's pathetic and it makes you look pathetic.
Never by me, always by others and, honestly, I am sick and f**king tired of it. You need to grow the f**k up and start looking at the world objectively. The entire focus is redirected away from the content of the thread and back to the individual

No, as I said, "it's like a rundown of all the worst aspects of 70s and 80s music".
So what? It was my time, too, but time moved on and I moved on with it.And I like the 70's and 80's, it was my time.
No, I don't, I live in the present, although I have to admit that my all-time favourite album was released in 1980. But that doesn't stop me from appreciating modern music, I have room for more than one thing. You live on another planet musically speaking.
I agree. The problem is that it is a very big "given".The range of that synth is pretty amazing given its simplicity.
Or, and here's a novel thought, maybe I'm looking to be convinced? Because, honestly, it wouldn't take much. It looks great and it sounds a lot richer than the Cherry Audio version. It falls at the last hurdle by being just that little bit too simple for what they are asking for it. I'd be in at $49 but $79 is, at the moment, a bridge too far.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Fri Apr 23, 2021 4:36 pmIt's amazing to me how much time some people spend posting about synths they claim to have no interest in [due to the simplicity.
I was working with my old Uno Synth yesterday, patching some sounds to play live, and for all its simplicity, Uno has a much broader range and an incredible sound. When I listen to what Uno is capable of and compare it to what people are getting out of this, I honestly can't justify the expense. But all it would take to change that is for someone to come along and say "try X, Y and Z and you can get this different kind of thing out of it" and I'd be in. However, given the simplicity of the synth, that seems unlikely but I'm an optimist by nature so I'll keep pluggin' away, if that's OK with you?
No, I just enjoy discussing music and shit. It helps me to shape my own processes and, every now and then, I learn something of value because, unlike you people (and when I say "people", you know I mean "idiots"), I am open to having my mind changed by a persuasive argument, backed up with credible evidence.ghettosynth wrote: Fri Apr 23, 2021 4:41 pmBones just likes the sound of his own voice. To be clear, I'm no stranger to that myself, so I'm not really judging as much as it might seem like I am.
That is the thing with all of softube. Good sound, terrible UX.[/quote]perpetual3 wrote: Fri Apr 23, 2021 10:42 pmThe GUI and implantation are not the strong points of this emulation.
Seriously? I think the GUI is the best thing about it. More than that, I reckon it is just about the best GUI I have ever seen on a softsynth. It looks like a photo of something real, it's stunning, if maybe a little low on contrast, but even that looks like 80s photography, which makes it even more clever.

Bro, do you even read Kant? As imperfect beings, our perception of reality is colored by prior experience in addition to the innately limited bandwidth of our sensory faculties. What we see is always our mind's rendition of a thing, never the thing itself. True objectivity is an ideal. It's inaccessible to mortals. Do you think you're divine? Do you expect others to be?BONES wrote: Sat Apr 24, 2021 1:50 am You need to grow the f**k up and start looking at the world objectively.
Just chill a little. Come on.

This synth is great! It's the best Juno 106 so far in software in my opinion (and in my ears). I've tried them all and I've also owned some hardware 106's in the past, though that was many years ago.
I downloaded the demo, played with it for less than 5 minutes and then I bought it. I don't believe that anybody could tell the difference between the software and hardware in a proper blind test.
The Juno 106 is a true classic. I like many simple synths and I'm not afraid to say it, it's dead easy to program and it's dead easy to make good sounds on it and it's so quick to use. Of course, "good sounds" is purely subjective and a matter of opinion depending on what somebody is looking for and what types/style of music they make, but the Juno 106 sounds wonderful to me and 106's often find their ways into my tracks. This softtube 106 will surely make its' way into many of my tracks in the future, just like my hardware 106's used to when I had them.
For the people and snobs who don't like the 106, it is highly likely that you have awful taste in music and there is also a probability that your ears have been permanently damaged somewhere along the line, maybe from a childhood accident or something similar.
Luckily for those weirdos, there are hundreds if not thousands of other synths available that may suit their perverse needs better.

Not the GUI - the UX, user experience. The preset browser here, the workflow of Softube modular, where I’m also using the 84 modules. But, I like the sound a lot so I deal with it.

Let’s not forget how blurry the GUI and text gets when you resize it. Browser opens in an awkward new window. Can’t even overwrite factory presets. And whose giant handprint is that on the right side of the GUI? Was there a homicide in the room with synth? The GUI and overall Ux with Softube plugins is definitely lacking. Sounds nice though.
