The release from all notes will be stopped if you play the chord once again all notes simultanously. If you play them arpeggio, you will stop one note's release when you play the first again. However in a mix, you would not notice any tails that much anyway. On the contrary will the second hit of the chord not overlab and therefore be more present in the mix.Dark Lights wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 7:08 pm In this case the release from the first hit would be stopped as soon as you hit the chord again, no?

You've got a point there. Not sure I'm ready to spend that much time on it though.ecasasmusic2 wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 6:03 pmBut you can set infinite points across the timeline with different values for each harmonic, and you achieve the same result as if you were setting a very complex multipoint envelope.felis wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 4:24 pm
Synclavier gets you close with amplitudes of harmonics, but no individual envelopes for them.
I did a quick 8 partial, one engine mp3 with no fx or filters, but if there's a way to attach files here, I can't find it.

At the discounted price, I highly recommend it. I especially love the design and how easy Arturia made it to get great results with minimum efforts. There is a tip (below in the video) that show how easy and nice to make your own wavetable from whatever currently using + all effects and modulation, then recorded and drag it back to Pigments :clapping: How convenient!jancivil wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 6:42 pm Looks like a neat synth. Most plugins have an audio thread and an event thread (GUI, timers, events, etc...). Multi-threaded audio is a very complicated process, and more often causes interference with DAW/host multi-threading when using many plugins. Generally speaking it's best to have multiple light plugins than one heavy plugin. That way a host can spread the workload across multiple threads.
One instance of Pigments will run on one core. It won't matter if you have a dozen cores and the other cores are idle, when that core you are running on is maxed out, you will have issues.

OK - thanks. I'll give it a try. It's an MP3 file, but I'm not sure what zipping will do to it:WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 8:52 pmSee the Attachments tab below the text box where you type your message.

One instance of Pigments running on my old internet computer. One note with the "Dark Strings of Heaven" patch. Nothing else running at the time:zzz00m wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 9:24 pm One instance of Pigments will run on one core. I played with it inside Cubase. I didn't hit 50% with chords of 3x2 (6 notes) changing like he did between two or three chords.Teksonik wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 2:23 pmIn the following video at the 9:26 mark you can see Pigment's internal CPU meter hit 61%. He's using a patch called "Dark Strings of Heaven" which is in the Pigments 3.0 bank. Now I don't know what CPU he's using for the demo or his buffer setting etc but that preset is pretty hungry when playing chords or fast notes.EnGee wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 12:09 pm Which preset, for example, can max your cpu? or at least very heavy?
I have yet to find such preset!
In average when I play pads, I barely hit 30% and this on my old cpu (now!) Ryzen 1600x with buffer 128 and 44.1khz (what I usually use inside Cubase). I thought to upgrade my cpu to 5800x and I believe it would use less cpu even
It is ok. I can't say light or medium. It is heavy like Massive X almost. Some Zebra presets are also heavy, but all are playable for me.

are you looking at the CPU hit in Pigments or in the task manager? i think that dark strings patch needs to be run in 48 or 96. it sounds a lot richer at that SR. just curious what the Ryzen CPU hit is when you run it at 96. I hit 80% easy on a dual Xeon.EnGee wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 11:43 pmI played with it inside Cubase. It is about 75% with 96khz (which I never use) and about 50% with 48khz. With 96khz it will just begin crackle if I play many chords with 6 notes. However with 44.1 or 48 khz, I have no problem.telecode wrote: Mon Apr 26, 2021 12:41 amare you looking at the CPU hit in Pigments or in the task manager? i think that dark strings patch needs to be run in 48 or 96. it sounds a lot richer at that SR. just curious what the Ryzen CPU hit is when you run it at 96. For me, nothing is accurate! All of them is just approximate. The real thing is "Does it crackle at that much or not".felis wrote: Mon Apr 26, 2021 12:48 am How accurate do you think the cpu meter is that shows on the bottom right corner of Pigments?
As I said, If I want to use Pigments, I would use it moderately like I use some Reaktor synths. Pigments and Massive X and some Reaktor synths are the most cpu hungry plugs I have, so I use them carefully. Other synths like FM8 or Massive or such, I just don't look at the cpu measure! Let alone, the hardware, like MODX

The granular engine can be used for time stretching if you modulate the grain start time. The easiest way is probably to use a function generator ramping up over whatever length you want the stretch to last.
