Does it affect the PCs that already have the latest version of iLok/PACE software installed? Or only for those who are installing it for the first time as part of AIR software?

What kind of issues are we talking about here?

At least I have not noticed any problem. But in my case, I already had the latest iLok software, so when I installed Structure 2 and Strike 2 recently, it probably did not try to install iLok software.
Sorry, I really don't know. Their US distributor told me a fix is coming but didn't have more information than that.
Okay, no worries. Just for additional safety, I still went ahead, uninstalled the PACE software, downloaded and installed the latest one from the page you linked in your previous post. Thanks!

Hopefully the fix will also include some much needed improvements for all the plugins. Unlikely, but let's see. :)

Does anyone know if Orchestral Tools do any sales?

Some of their Creative Soundpacks are pretty interesting, especially Arbos, Dagu and Ore. Not a fan of their SINE Player, but these instruments sound incredible. Not interested in their main stuff, which of course is brilliant, as it is not the type of music I am making.

https://www.orchestraltools.com/creativesoundpacks

I am guessing these packs are priced relatively lower and probably won't be discounted, but great if someone can confirm this.

From what I saw in the past, Orchestral Tools dont do sales at all, except for intro pricing sale and when they promoted their stuff through Native Instruments for the two week 50% off deals. Anything can happen though, Ive seen plenty of companies over the last few years give in to the 'sales path' when they used to be solid on price, it makes sense as most of us cheapskates only buy if something is on sale whether we need the product or not..

Haha, yeah, that's where companies like Waves and Plugin Alliance have caught us. Sales have become a norm for us these days, so we expect them to happen everywhere. OT products are of pretty high standard/quality and they are probably doing great.

I might get their Arbos soundpack at some point, as it's really interesting. One important thing to consider though is that OT does NOT allow license transfers. No sales + no license transfers are generally not the friend of hobbyists.

They've done other sales in the past. BF on Berlin strings, several sales this year when they released Sine Player versions of parts of their Berlin strings libraries (though that's sort of an introductory sale). 25 € Christmas voucher.

This is true, thanks for the reminder! that Xmas voucher was a good score, I got something for free from their Sine library through it. I gotta agree with LoveEnigma18 though that Sine player isn't for me, its just cumbersome somehow. I'm amazed they got to write their own player and seem to have messed it up in terms of modern 'ease of use' which I think is a lot of the time highly underrated for the modern workflow priorities.

Yeah you gotta justify that big cost and no resale for it.. the worst part for me is that once I bought ARK 1+2 I still didn't feel 'satisfied' its like I'm still looking to add more to my orchestral libraries and I've barely practically used the ARK 1 + 2. Thats when you know your acquisitions are about something else, not the instrument/tool per se. We simply buy too much and then cant use it all. So yeah, buy from OT but careful about whether you'll load up that Arbos for more than one experimental use case..? anyway, if you can wait till BF this year they may have a few sales by then, and a big one for BF perhaps, who knows.

ProjectSAM Symphobia 1 is the most instant gratification I’ve gotten from an orchestral library so far. You can play it real-time and sound like a professional score.

A student of mine did great things with EastWest Symphonic Orchestra Silver. He didn’t have much formal education (parallel 5ths all over the place) and was on a limited budget but knew what good scores sounded like and was willing to put in the work to get there. I always found that very inspirational.

Thanks. 25€ sounds interesting. Was it limited to one-time use?
NI, for example, is quite generous with their $25 holiday voucher, which can we be used multiple times.

Yeah, it's just feels kinda unnecessary and forced. That is good in a way, because it will help to resist buying their stuff.

I fully agree. The interest is usually only until the point you install it, once that is done, we move on the find something next. That's been the story for me in this last couple of years. It feels a bit embarrassing. Some days I will feel I have had enough, some days the GAS will kick in. Of course, there has been a good side of it too - forum discussions, knowing about new and useful plugins, etc., which is a part of the whole process. And the way life is right now, it feels good to engage with people online.

I was doing orchestral/soundtrack type music few years ago and it was something I liked and thought I was decent at (not talking about realism), even though I have no formal education in music. Luckily, I got more and more interested in creating instrumental songs and recently vocal-based music. Otherwise, I would have been spending tons and tons on Orchestral libraries, which is a much more expensive affair than the plugins (synths, drums, etc.) that we discuss about on KVR and buy at bargain prices.

Regarding Arbos, what you said is very likely, so I will resist buying anything OT. I will just wait for a sale or voucher. Hopefully the OT GAS will subside by then. Thanks for the discussion. :tu:

I am sure I dreamt of getting ProjectSAM Symphobia 1 a few years ago when I was trying to make orchestral music.

That's inspiring to know. I feel that clarity of thoughts is extremely important and that's what I feel is lacking for me right now. Life is different than it used to be (not related to covid), but still.

I too have had great success with EastWest Silver, its limited in articulations but you can get a lot done with it. My relationship with EastWest sadly ended when I found problems in their Symphonic Choir library where quite a few sung notes were out of tune and there were table drags and clicks in the samples, I addressed this in the forum and was immediately banned with no successful appeal. Doug Rogers banned me and that was that, he didnt want me to spread fire (and I wasn't disrespectful, just asked if others found this).

Anyway, for those interested in EastWest Silver here's a track I did many years ago that has the spirit of that library, prob 90% Silver. (Link from my mobile sorry).

Are you looking for Structure 2 and Strike 2 downloads?

Yes, among others. Some are still downloadable, but these are missing at Plugin Boutique and are currently only for MAC available:

Air Creative Collection Plus
DB-33
Structure 2
Strike 2
Transfuser 2
Download the trial versions from Air’s site. Be aware that they can ruin your computer if you don’t take precautions. In case you need them, the instructions for installing them safely are here:

Hi and thank you very much! :)
In the meantime I was finally able to reach the Company here in Germany via Phone.
And they said to me, (like you said above :)) that I can download the plugin trials.
The system will automatically detect the iLok-license and that they are part of the bundle.
I did that toghether with the procedure you suggested and it worked. :tu:
But I had to realize that there is no trial for Sctructure 2 on Air's Homepage and Plugin Boutique removed the Windows Version...
So maybe, anyone can provide an alternative download-link...?
But anyway: thanks to all of you!! :phones:

I Think Stealth Limiter is a No Brainer for 25 bucks...

Post

Stealth Limiter is probably the star of that show, yes. They're all really good, for sure, but with IK you always have to think about when the deals might be even better. For instance, the Tape Machines and Tape Delay are all very very nice, but even right now you can still get their "Power Reels" set which includes all four Tape Machines, Tape Delay, and Space Delay for $99. Or you get quite a number of those in the T-RackS or T-RackS Deluxe package, and I've seen the basic T-RackS on sale for as low as $40. And there's always their Group Buys which will often get you 10 of those titles for the (full) price of the most expensive one. Etc.

That said, most of IK's really really good deals are on larger purchases - if there are just a couple of their bits you're looking at, or just a couple you need to complete your set, this is a great time to look at them. I'm hoping that this sale goes like on ikmultimedia.com directly, because with Jampoints these would all be $18 apiece.
