Why do the plugins always install in Program Files despite me specifying a different folder in the installation?

Hi,
I tried 3 times in a row, i specify a folder "C:\VST64\", yet they always install in "C:\Program Files\vstplugins\"
I'm getting really annoyed by that, how can i fix that?

Post

Hi, that sounds unlikely. If you are sure you set the paths correctly, please contact us via the support contact.

I figured it out, apparently unlike 99% of the installers of other software in the market, if the folder you specified doesn't already exist, Melda's installer will not create it and will resort to installing the plugins in the default folder without notifying you. That's the first time i encounter such a behavior on a software installer.

Some Windows installations do not allow the creation of a folder directly at C (silently or not):

"Users (even administrators) are not allowed to create files in the C drive root directory, otherwise, an error message like “A required privilege is not held by the client” or “access is denied” will be prompted. To fix it, just turn off the User Account Control (UAC).

You may try another location.

Like i said before, it is not the case with 99% of the installers i have ever encountered. My UAC is always turned off.
Melda have chosen to go with their own custom installer app and not use any of the mainstream ones, good for them, but they should fix any tiny annoyances they might have.

Noticed that too one time. That and the 32bit mandatory. If you are annoyed by that, wait until you see what the custom uninstaller does and leaves behind
It runs on my machine! Everything else is undefined behavior.

Hmmm, interesting, will check it out!

So I tried and it seems working fine. When you specify nonexisting folder, it will create it.
