And the one speaker simulator (not the same as mono)
Can you explain what you mean by this not being the same as mono? Is it soloing L or R?

I don't know exactly how to explain and what follows is just my idea, but I'll try.
Is it the same thing having two stereo speakers emitting the mono sum of both stereo channels compared to one single speaker emitting the mono sum?
I think that here the plugin is using the room and ambient simulation to achieve the latter.
Not sure it is actually so (I haven't found anything relevant in the docs in this regard) but for me the one speaker simulation sounds different than just setting the DAW output to mono (more focused, probably less "phantom center" feeling).

Cannot tell more, just try and tell me what you think...

I was using Beyer Dynamic DT990's at first. I've tried several headphone solutions and Realphones worked the best for me. But 990's are just not precise enough in every area so this got me looking at other headphones.

So, i took the plunge and got the more expensive DT1990's to go with Realphones, as Dsoniq themselves recommend those headphones.
And i couldn't be happier : Much better sound, very precise, and to my surprise a very good low end. Translation is very good, my reference tracks sound as good as they should, and the decisions i make on the headphones also work well on my speakers.

I'm not only mixing on headphones tho, i use them as an extra pair of speakers really. I see it as a fresh pair of ears when i've spent a long time in the studio, and/or an extra way to check for issues. I also have Sonarworks for my speakers and my listening environment ain't too bad in the first place.

And a personal tip : Realphones take a little time to set up to your own preferences, but once you find a setting that works, just leave it. Listen to your own reference tracks and make your decisions. Don't switch too much or change settings. Like with speakers, you have to get used to headphones and have a bit of patience and trust.

1.6 works fine here, but i use preset handling in my daw (i have Realphones set up on my Control Room in Cubase), so i don't really use the snapshots.
All i do is listen to the 3 different speakers inside Realphones every once in a while, to see if everything stays in the same ballpark. Mostly i use the nearfields in Realphones, altho the big speakers and sub-bass settings are pretty good for judging the "oomph" in the low-end.

Anyway, i really like Realphones and can recommend them for everyone that uses headphones regularly. Get some nice headphones with it and you're done. And if you already have good headphones, the relatively small investment in Realphones will make a huge difference.

Btw : The Realphones thread on Gearslutz is very informative.

100% what dioneoid wrote.
And it really helps to read the manual for Realphones, i usually don’t (“because real men don’t read manuals”), but for this one it’s worth to follow the procedure for setting up realphones according to your needs.

This thing is really useful and amazing, been using it with my Superlux HD-681's and there's really no surprises left when I go to my car to check my mix against references, can nail low end really good and balance everything out so there's not much surprises on different systems, this is a must have for anyone referencing with headphones! :phones:

Just want to send a BIG shoutout to dsoniq :phones:
This Realphones thing is so killer @ my Heddphones - unbelievable.
Bought after 1 minute of demoing.

What it does to my Focal Clear is a little bit more messy
but I´m talking about my HEDD.

THX.

Hi Dsoniq,
perhaps the Set B Nearfielders sound much boomier since 1.8.1 update?
I have to reduce Lo by -3,5 dB to make it sound good on my Heddphones.
Like Set B and C are interchanged by mistake? :scared:
Before the update I left the Tone controls untouched.
Now I notice some random hiccups when in use as audioplayer, too.
