Hi, I've been out for a while now and haven't been able to follow your discussions on MuLab .. I hope everything is fine for you .. I've had some problems .. I don't know anymore if I want to recover .. Anyway .. I was left with the proposal of a hybrid MuLab that can read both 32-bit and 64-bit plugins if this is not possible I would like to ask if at least the colors of the MuLab icon can be developed in a different way so you can distinguish .. Orange and blue for MuLab 64 bit and Red and Blue for MuLab 32 bit .. (or even different colors, as long as you can distinguish the icon of the 32 bit version from the 64 bit icon. Then if MuLab is able to automatically recognize any plugins installed in the same folder .. without having to manually search for them every time .. Thanks.

When choosing a VST plugin in MuLab 32 bit only 32 bit VSTs are shown.
When choosing a VST plugin in MuLab 64 bit only 64 bit VSTs are shown.
So there should be no confusion.

Yes in the plug-in scan yes, but I mean the icon of the link that opens the program. Both are orange and blue and it is hard to understand what the 32-bit and 64-bit program is, especially if both icons are placed in the taskbar.

Can't you resolve that by renaming the MuLab.exe and .ID files to
MuLab32.exe and MuLab32.ID
and
MuLab64.exe and MuLab64.ID
and then if you would forget which one is which just hover the taskbar icon.
Just an idea.

ID file needs to have the same name as exe?

Just interested with the topic.

Yes! That's important indeed. Thx for asking.

There's a free icon editor called Greenfish, using that you can extract the original icon from the Mulab.exe, modify it and save it out as a custom .ico file. Import it, find the right icon, delete the smaller 'mipmap' versions (icon editor calls them tables), then edit the bitmap however and save.

Creating a shortcut to one of the mulab.exe versions will mean you can then attach a custom icon to the shortcut.

I did try superimposing '32' over the icon, but its not -that- visible when small. Maybe reversing the colours would have been better. But you could try it...

Those options are great, but become tiresome if you need to do it on every update.

Wouldn't it be easier to create shortcuts and edit the icons used. Or, use a portable menu, like SyMenu, that allows users to choose custom icons as well as rename the files which only ever needs doing once.

Or, as I have done, create a skin for Rainmeter to launch apps which again, allows using custom icons and renaming, without affecting the original files and having to constantly update exe names or icons. I can share the skin too if you like.
