Trying to create Waldorf Pulse synthesis "in the box", for non-negotiable reasons.

The u-he line seems the logical starting point. My first realization is I don't know which instrument I should focus on. In my mind the contenders are Diva, Zebra, RePro-1, and Bazille. I'll do my own digging but just thought I would throw it out there. No sense reinventing the wheel. I am sure some sound designers have already done this I mean. Thanks in advance.

like the waldorf pulse synthesizer? You need filter FM, a single analog modelled filter, 3 oscillators, ring mod, sync, overdrive... I'd say diva would get you MOST of the way there features wise (can't do ring mod and 3 oscs at the same time)... Bazille can't do PWM without some extra funky patching and can't do oscillator sync at all (can do a "fractal" waveshaping that produces similar results potentially for some purposes though). Zebra has plenty of features but is a very different synth from the waldorf pulse.

Repro-1/5 definitely have great analog character but aren't really the same as the pulse at all (much lighter on features and more vintage in tone).

My recommendation would be ACE - you kinda sorta give up the third osc (the LFOs work at audio rate and VCO 1 has a sub osc so it's not that bad) and it has all the goodies you want (filter FM, sync, ring mod, etc and plenty of dirt/aggression on hand via gain staging the filter and the parameters on the tweaks page) - I think people sleep on ACE but it's an amazing virtual analog beast imo.

I would say Zebra 2. Plenty of power with unlimited options.

Yo... I have a Pulse2. I'd second ACE for character and possibilities.

ACE would be my suggestion too... ACE is an underrated little synth!
