Don't forget that the pandemic presumably hit Berlin as hard as anyone else, and must have caused at least a few problems. I think we can all be thankful that everyone, on all sides has come through (hopefully) unscathed, and is still generating that sweet code 😀🙏

They've released a lot in the last year. You're reading too much into online chatter. New devices Polymer, EQ +, Saturator, plug multiple updated devices and new modulation and filter modules.
It's all right here:
https://www.bitwig.com/previous_releases/
EQ+ and saturator were nearly a year ago (3.2, 03 June 2020). Polymer is a grid synth with a different wrapper although the wavetable module was new that release. Lots of people here at least appear to have let their subscriptions lapse and some have not updated in a pretty long time, implying that the recent features are not very interesting to many.
Not at all, I've bought my subscription over 6 months ago, after my current one ran out in November. It's still been point releases that I qualify for, so 5 months later I haven't put the serial number in yet. This poll doesn't qualify for that, so we're in the same boat. I will put the serial numbers in and start the subscription as soon as I don't qualify for updates anymore.

You had to qualify the Mac that Polymer is a Grid module, and downplay that it include the Wavetable synth module, not to mention the Xpander filters etc. etc. Nothing is as near as grim as you're making it out to be, but that's to be expected, we're very obviously past due for a major upgrade, and in every form for every DAW people get anxious before this happens believing their DAW of choice has lost the plot. :)

You didn't even mention the most interesting stuff in 3.3 and 3.2 updates

In 3.3 -
  • The ability to scale audio, midi clips and note selections is a huge benefit for me.
  • The fades were also much improved.
  • And individual modulation targets have curves options and the ability to scale via another modulator.
  • You can also disable individual targets or all targets on a modulator. All regularly useful.
  • And more small stuff
in 3.2 -
  • The Arpeggiator became much more capable. It is my main arp now.
  • The Selector devices also became much more useful with a bunch of new modes. Truly powerful and effective in a variety of uses.
  • The note delay options on envelopes was added. Makes it easy to do strum type effects.
  • The Drum Machine added local audio returns. A useful addition for many I am sure.
  • Tool device can go down to silence now!

Mine expired right before 3 came out. Still waiting for a worthwhile reason to upgrade.

6+ months ago. I'd have to check. I decided to hold off until I got a new computer, a PC/Windows machine, still trying to buy that computer. I had no idea what I was getting into :bang:

I doubt that this poll will be a large enough sample to do any serious statistical analysis. So far it seems like an even spread of renewal dates for people with active plans. But I would not be tempted to make any kind of generalizations from those numbers other than maybe "people who participate in kvr polls tend to be more concerned about instant rewards for money spent". (I'm basing that on the larger percentage of people that let their plan expire. And then seem to suggest they are waiting for the next big feature before they renew - which is actually one of the great features of the licensing model.)
I will continue to renew my plan every year as a way of supporting development of a program I love using every day.

+1

I will also be renewing every year. I am happy to support development. Bitwig works well for me as is and am pleased with the overall direction it is going.

Mine has just run out and I have a renewal waiting to activate for the next proper update.
I love Bitwig and can't wait to see what they add next.

Running out in the near future, after that BWS will be retired, it‘s not „my DAW“.

My plan expires June 2 and just like the last major upgrade, version 4 will be released after my plan expires. I'll no doubt get to play with version 4 beta but will have to renew if I want the actual version 4.

As you can see, June has the most plans that will expire. Bitwig knows what they are doing.

So why dont you just renew your plan in November? Beat the system! Easy!!

They have to up their DAW side. Grid and modulation is fun and interesting up to a certain point. Or find a way to integrate to other DAWs with propriety connection like Rewire or Link to reach more people. Or maybe they are happy with business as it is and it is none of my business :D

Kind of interesting that there's actually a spike in June ... i.e. june 2019 was the last major release. Interesting because some guys claimed that my assumption that major releases trigger upgrade plan sales is wrong.
So I bet that july 2021 is when 4.0 hits the shelves - I still belive this is true.
