Hi,

I have just installed MTurboEQ and I'm trying to determine what lies behind each of the devices. Up to now, I think that I've nailed the following:

MPI 550 = API 550B
MSL E = SSL E-Channel
MSL G = SSL G-Channel
Sonmeld 432 = Sontec MES-432C/9
Meve 7381 = Neve 1073/1081
Pulmeld 1A = Pultec EQP-1A
Passive = Manley Massive Passive
Marrocco = Waves Manny Marroquin EQ

and, of course, The COMBO is a combination of the Pultec, the API and the SSL.

What remain are Motor Town Plus and Almeld M063. I think that Motor Town Plus is the Motown EQ but I'm not sure. And I have no clue about the Almeld M063.

Anyone has an idea? Thanks.

Thanks a lot. So we have:

MPI 550 = API 550B
MSL E = SSL E-Channel
MSL G = SSL G-Channel
Sonmeld 432 = Sontec MES-432C/9
Meve 7381 = Neve 1073/1081
Motor Town Plus = Motown EQ
Almeld M063 = Altec 9063B
Pulmeld 1A = Pultec EQP-1A
Passive = Manley Massive Passive
Marrocco = Waves Manny Marroquin EQ
The COMBO = The COMBO

Motor Town Plus is quite close to the URS M series Motor City Equalizer and Vintage Cinema Equalizer plugins which model different kinds of Motown EQs over the years. See https://www.ursplugins.com/ursMEQ.php

Great. I know the names. Now I need to know how each of them sound :-)

There is also a version from Nomad Factory (I think the URS is only 32bit):

Thanks for sharing.

For those who know some of the original EQs, do you think that MTurboEQ come close? How much Saturation / Analog do you tend to add (if any)?

I don't think that MSL G is suppose to be SSL G-Channel. Peak filters number 1 and 4 have Q parameters, which are not present in the original. Gain ranges of all filters are completely different. Also why shelf filters have fixed frequencies?
Any ideas about what alternative model it could have been? Even if it was based on the SSL G-Equalizer, it still doesn't explain some extra features. I'm not complaining, but I'm puzzled not knowing what it's suppose to be.

Many plug-in developers aim to emulate HW units then add more features. Of course, you do not need to use those additional features. Does MSL G get close to the SSL G-Channel if you stick to the original controls?

My curiosity got the best of me and I was hoping for some clarification regarding MSL-G. You made a valid point. I haven't thought about it this way regarding extra features.
Anyway as for the SSL G-Channel question, I don't want to start comparing MTurboEQ with emulated units, because it would seem counterproductive. I don't expect curves to be exactly the same. The fact that I like the sound of it is more important.
