yeah, fine and all, but what about the pants-tool?
- it was the best idea of all - hopefully it gets implemented nonetheless even if Phillip didn't really understood how brilliant it was.

The time to train these people may be greater than the time saved. And not many coders out there are up to Jules' standards, seriously. Those who are, are very expensive.rockstar_not wrote:Actually, what is frustrating is that Mackie hasn't offered up some folks to help him code. (at least not that we know about so it seems)
I think and hope they have people helping with testing and quality assurance, perhaps even requirements gathering and "market research". But it's not a given that more coders will translate to faster delivery.

3/4 of our hardware staff are expat Brits. I've learned a lot, like what it means to "take a Gypsy" and "nice Bristols".Lunch Money wrote:The pants joke will make no sense whatsoever to anyone outside of the UK.I only 'got' it because a friend of mine is teaching in Reading.
Funny, though.

with the exception of a few bits we inadvertantly borrowed from france, most of our language comes from youse huns. How much help do you need[1]?multree wrote: greg you elitist snob....how about ratting out the secerets of the britain language for us...

(yeah I know, and I sucked at learning German at school -- for the first year or so it came really natural, and then I started to struggle, and struggle, annnd struggle
I'm planning to give it another next year).

i'm a big fan of nice bristols myself
and KvR taught me the meaning of pants - i'd heard it a bit but for some reason thought it meant 'really good', not 'shite' - got that one straightened out quick
but what on earth does it mean to 'take a Gypsy'?

I've found this website to be very helpful to sort out the UK slang that finds it's way in this forum.

and now not only do I know what it is to take a gypsy, I even have my other question answered, "why on earth the word 'bristol'"
cool
