I checked in to see what was new and was pleasantly surprised to see the royalty check. Congratulations!

Actually, this band is very straight light rock. Hard to describe their sound. Basic instrumental setup. Guitar, bass, drums. Very light on arrangement as far as number of instruments. There are only 4 members in the group. They're considering having me play keyboards on future songs and possibly do string arrangements. That way I would also get paid performance royalties as well. So this is really just the start.

Thanks Frantz. Hopefully, this is just the beginning.

Thanks for the congrats Frank. As for the thrash metal, I think that's going to be a long wait if I ever even do it. It's just not in my wheel house.

not copy's, but take the original and make it wags!
i can imagine a sort of pop/show tune - metallica enter sandman!
might be a fun project for those times your stuck not being productive? (if they ever happen?)

You mean take somebody else's song but do it completely in my style so that it sounds nothing like the original? Kind of like when Eric Clapton remade Layla?vurt wrote: ↑Tue May 18, 2021 6:29 pmid never thought of this till now, but what about covers?

Years ago, I did a rock cover of "I Could Have Danced All Night" from My Fair Lady. Unfortunately, it's a bad recording so I won't upload it but it was so cool. It's the only time I ever did something like that.

wasn't expecting you to like them tbh, or rather that wasn't my point, but im glad you did, always nice to find a little nugget you'd not heard
was just an idea, not even necessarily for release, just in any moments of lack of an idea, can sometimes spark something by trying something like this. especially if you take a song you don't know, that is an "opposite" genre

Hey wags, can you review my songs I just posted if possible? I basically invented my own genre up.
Many paid and free VSTs as well as Kontakt libraries. As well as HW synths/drum machine and acoustic instruments.

Wow...I can't believe it just hit me. After several years of hearing you here, I finally figured out that in some odd way you remind of the the Sparks.
Voice, prolific writing, etc. They lean toward minimalism and repetition more than you, but there is a similarity for sure.
Well, I can sleep now. ha ha ha

In 1975, the day of my high school graduation, I was in my car (I had just started driving) and a song came on the radio. From the opening riff, I was captivated. After it ended, I had to run out and get the album.JonSolo wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 2:15 am Wow...I can't believe it just hit me. The song was "Achoo"
The album was "Propaganda"
The group was "Sparks"
They went on to become my favorite group of all time. When I began writing in 1977, I purposely tried to sound like them.
Listen to this track from "Queen For A Day" where I was going for Queen but managed to sneak in Sparks. This song is classic Sparks.

I do a pretty mean Russell Mael if I have to say so myself.

Love that theatrical rock opera sound.
