Racks and MIDI input(s)

Someone asked a question over at the Facebook page and it made me wonder why Racks only have the one MIDI input no matter how many tracks they're on.

The issue was having two plugins in a Rack (one drum machine + one glitch effect) and be able to both play the drums AND trigger effect variations at the same time.

I guess the only way to do this is to send MIDI on different channels and then use MIDI patchbays in the Rack to finagle the data stream. Seems a bit workaround-y. It might be a simpler process if the plugins allow you to choose a MIDI channel, but I doubt many do.
