As I said I'm a new user. Should probably have done the demo first, but it seemed so easy I jumped the gun.

Originally I used Fl Studio. Fell in love with their plugins. Now I'm in ProTools, so I thought the patchwork plugin would allow me to use my plugins from FlStudio in ProTools. Whenever I try to load one I get an error window.

Error Loading Plugin
Could not load "Fruity Vocoder_x64"
Please check that this is a compatible 64-bit VST plug-in.

I'm 100% sure it is a 64-bit plug-in, but it won't work. I tried with multiple other plugins with the same error message. Am I doing it wrong or am I SOL? Thank you in advance for any help!

FL's internal plugins are not VSTs, they use their own plugin format.

There were VST versions of a lot of them, but I believe they stopped doing them recently.

However: if you've got the version of FL that works as a plugin, you can run them inside that inside Patchwork. A but clunky but should work.

Are all .dll files not VST? I get what you're saying about loading it up as a plugin with the rewire 3.0. I tried this earlier but the output options didn't match so i may have to spend more time trying things out. Bummer cause that's the only reason i got the plugin, but it seems like there is way more to this plugin than that so im excited to see the other possibilities. Thanks for your reply!!

No, a dll is just a "library" (windows has a ton of it and none of them are VSTs). What makes it VST compatible are certain entry points and following an communication interface. I fell for the same issue back then. Loading FL as dll in patchwork works fine here though.

I use patchwork to create channel strips or to process things in parallel chains. Maybe that's another hint to at why it was a good investment. I also still have plugins that are not AAX compatible so hosting them inside protools via patchwork is the only solution.

Does protools not rewire?

Nope, not necessarily. VST2 plugins have a .dll suffix, but dll just means 'dynamically linked library' which is basically the code mechanism by which VST plugins work. It doesnt mean all .dll are VST plugins, though.

I was actually talking about it (FL) being available as a VST plugin, but rewire would work I guess.
