That would also be my best guess, if anything gets added it will be the older stuff that a lot of users have in suite anyway. Things like 'Radical Keys' and 'Electric base' should probably be in the core package anyway to be competitive...the base offering is actually quote light now (suite was a good better price in sales/discounts), especially compared to other suite or 'all plug in' packages that don't need subscription.antic604 wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 7:58 am Having said that, there's no chance - IMO - for inclusion of Friktion, Algoritm or Pattern Mutator for free in Reason 12. No one would ever buy new REs from them anymore and they'd lose one of the most important selling points for Reason+ (all RS' REs "free" the moment they're available).

When R+ was announced, they were hinting at more things, e.g.:
So far we know about 2 of the 3 things above: high-res and new Sampler/Combinator."Yes, we are working on a major update to Reason to come later this year that will include high resolution graphics, workflow enhancements and some new devices, too. We’ll price it similarly to how we have before for the perpetual license owners. Reason+ subscribers gain immediate access upon release."
What do you mean? We know three out of these three, except that the new Sampler is only a single new device.
The improvements for both the Combinator and the browser ought certainly be filed under "workflow enhancements", right?

Not for me, but indeed one could look at them this way.jens wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 10:08 amThe improvements for both the Combinator and the browser ought certainly be filed under "workflow enhancements", right?
Perhaps I'm biased / skewed, but for me "workflow enhancements" are things that are Reason DAW specific (e.g. track folders, freezing, MIDI comping).

Not to be “that guy”, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. It pains me to say this, but I’m willing to wager that boat has sailed.antic604 wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 10:13 am things that are Reason DAW specific (e.g. track folders, freezing, MIDI comping).

I must’ve missed them mentioning if Friktion and Algoritm are included, I did read the announcement.hotmitts wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 7:51 am Well they've kind of already announced what's in Reason 12 haven't they?
I thought I’d ask here as people are beta testing and may let it slip

Sorry, for the dumb question, but, it's something I never really understood: What is a refill?
Often get proposed some videos on Youtube about refills for this or that RE, which I searched for on Youtube.

it’s just their name for patches, but because of combinator and the way the rack works means one refill can include multiple instruments, effects and samples.chk071 wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 2:37 pm Sorry, for the dumb question, but, it's something I never really understood: What is a refill?

ReFills are sample packs/ sound libraries for Propellerhead's Reason software that expand your rack with high-quality samples, patches, loops and grooves. When using ReFills with Reason, you can load patches for any of the devices included in Reason, as well as REX files, samples etc

Actually, think of a ReFill as a collection of soundbanks, presets, samples, etc that are encrypted and compressed (losslessly) by up to 50% and can only be used in Reason devices.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 2:51 pmit’s just their name for patches,chk071 wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 2:37 pm Sorry, for the dumb question, but, it's something I never really understood: What is a refill?

Thanks.
What I wonder though: It seems like a refill often contains combinators. E.g., I saw that someone made kind of a Roland JP-8k like supersaw synth with combinators full of Subtractors, and called that a refill.

A Combinator is just another Reason device, so one can expect those to be in ReFills... That said, the "quality" of a ReFill can vary greatly. It's a Reason-only format that has been around for 2 decades, so there's bound to be shitty authors mixed in with the good stuff. You don't need a license or permission to make or sell them - the ReFill Packer is free (although I don't think it's been updated in a while).chk071 wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 3:37 pm Thanks.

*EDIT: it was updated recently as you can include samples for Grain now, so at least since Reason 10 came out.

I wonder if the packer will need to be updated again for the new advanced combiner with its own GUI?

I only categorized what they announced so far. It was not meant as a comment in regards to my own preferences.antic604 wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 10:13 amNot for me, but indeed one could look at them this way.jens wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 10:08 amThe improvements for both the Combinator and the browser ought certainly be filed under "workflow enhancements", right?

I think I made clear in this thread what would and what would not be satisfying for me personally.

One general thing I want to point out (I may actually make a video about it):
I think Reason's strength was and is to make things simple and easy to use - such as e.g.:
- putting an input-monitor on every audio-track that only shows up when you record-arm that track and you can turn it into a tuner at the push of a button and it will remember this setting henceforth
- the brilliant Block-feature
- having an independent snap-settings for each: the editors, the Song-mode and the Block-mode
- having the three different audio-editors which all neatly do their own thing with all the individual takes being completely hidden from view until you open the comp-editor (that has it's own independent zoom-setting)
Stuff like this that makes working quick and joyful.
But loading a sub-host in a DAW in which you combine any number of individual plugins and create macros and what not to most probably do something that one individual other plugin could do on its own and you would load it directly into the DAW, that is basically the opposite of that - that is the geeky and convoluted stuff that probably rather leads to pointelessly tinkering around, rather than to getting the song finished.
So Reason as a DAW is a songwriter's dream (for the most part of it), Reason as a plugin may perhaps be a tinkerer's dream - entirely different things for mostly entirely different people, I would think.
