Live keeps its preferences, places, etc when you upgrade. :) You can have multiple different versions installed too.

I think it's a bit chicken & egg problem in this case, no?

Also, some users might be paying attention to what competition (Logic, Reaper, FL Studio and recently Bitwig) is doing and consider Apple Silicon support as an advantage when choosing a DAW.

I'm pretty sure they've started working on it the day AS was announced.

Plus, Ableton developers I've met have always said that the Live user base is 50/50, and that was over ten years ago. Apple has grown a bit since then. So at some point in the next two years a huge amount of users will be on Apple Silicon. Plus plus! Ableton is a pig, using Diva etc, in it you can kill your laptop quickly. So I'm guessing Live users switch quicker than other users.

So you're saying it's 500/500 now? ;) :D

It's Fortune 500 now.

First time, that I'am a bit disappointed with a Live release. Lots of crashes with third party plugins, and the show/hide buttons in the clip view are gone.

Why did they remove this? :?

I prefer the old way tbh.

That wasn't the question.
I don't like all the wasted space either :(
All I'm saying is the features are still there, just moved elsewhere.

Same. I lost the best part of two days this weekend trying to figure out/workaround for a problem I was having and to top it off, the recovery protocol was only successful about half the time. First time I used the commercial version on release, I lost half a day's work because of a crash that didn't recover. I used the beta version for the entire 3 year life cycle of Live 10 and never had any serious problems like this.

I have Bitwig now thankfully, so for solo projects I can rely on that (I ended up making the multisample bass patch for this crashing project in Bitwig actually), but I still need to use Live for collaborative work and some older solo projects. I tried the new ALS import in BWS4 but it didn't work unfortunately. It's only the first beta release so there are sure to be some kinks to iron out, but for complex projects like mine are, it may never work properly.

As has been mentioned, it's been a bit quiet on the beta release program, so fingers crossed a 11.1 release is imminent and will help with these stability problems!

Sure, I didn't mean to discount your reply. I was both acknowledging that they are still there and that I prefer the previous implementation.

Mhm, but you can't hide the clip view tabs?

So the function of the show/hide buttons is gone.....

I believe if you double-click that orange dot the whole clip info / next actions panel will collapse to a thin column the size of that dot.

Again, it's not perfect, but all functionality is retained + new stuff is added.

I am wondering, Ableton Live had always this clean, streamlined look. Workflow was the most important thing. Now it feels a little bit disimproved, "verschlimmbessert" in german. New features are not evil, but never touch things, that work for many years very well. :)
