Hello.

I'm just learning how to create synths in MSoundFactory and I have got quite a way through creating my own using the Minimal template.

I have now watched some more tutorials and realise I should have started with the Main template.

Is there an easy way to add everything in the Main template to my current work in progress, can I merge, or import mine into the Main template?

I don't want to start from scratch really if I can avoid doing so.

Thanks.

I think the only thing you really need from the main template is the "Globals" section of the easy screen. You can copy them with the following steps.

1) Open new instance of MSF and load the Main template.
2) Go to the edit screen and right-click on one of the multi-parameters names (not the value), select "Manager"
3) Scroll down to 233 and select all the Parameters starting with "Globals"
4) Click "Copy"
5) Open a instance of MSF and load on of your presets where you want to add the Globals section
6) Go to the edit screen and open the multi-parameters manager like before
7) Scroll down to 233, select it, and click paste

This should add the "Globals" section to your own instrument.
If you already have parameters at 233 or lower, paste the globals section afterwards.

Let me know if that works for you :)

Brilliant, thank you so much for your help. It worked a treat!

I located the FX tab stuff and added that as well.

Thanks again.

For the FX tab stuff you also need to copy the modules from the FX tab in the edit screen. Otherwise the controls won't do anything. There's no way to copy all of them, so you'd have to do it one by one and set the routing.

But if you take a look at the factory instruments, they all have their own unique FX, so it's probably not necessary to add everything from the Main template. Instead, you should come up with FX that are a good fit for your own instrument.

Btw, I just looked at the Minimal template, and it already contains the globals tab, so you actually didn't need to do what I told you in my last post. Sorry. Do you have now all the controls twice or did you overwrite them?

You should be fine continuing with the instruments you started from the minimal template and adding the GUI elements yourself.

II actually saved the Main Template FX section as a preset, then opened my synth and loaded the preset.

Seems to have worked.

Thanks for you help.

Oh wow, I had no idea you could do this. This opens so many possibilities. Thank you!

Cool.

I'm on version 15 (beta) but I guess the functionality would be there for version 14.

It's been there for a while, but I never noticed. I kept looking for copy/paste buttons for the grid, but it never occurred to me to look for presets in the tabs.

It happened to me a few times that I created a sound and wanted to add unison later, and I had to copy all the modules one by one. Now I can create a preset and load that in the unison module. Much better :)

I would still like the copy/paste option for the grids, but presets will do.

I'm glad I asked the question then, and I'm glad you responded.

Mutually beneficial.

Thanks.
